Description

A deliciously smooth, high fiber cereal milled from high protein oats grown in the great Northwest - some of the best oat-growing country in the whole United States. Bob's Red Mill Oat Bran Cereal Contains a high concentration of the natural fiber found in oats. USDA organic. Diets rich in whole grain foods and other plant foods low in total fat, saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers.

Bob Moore's secret to life may just be "work hard and keep it simple." Living this philosophy, Bob literally puts his nose to the grindstone every day. Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods is an Oregon-based company that utilizes simple, old-world technology to mill hundreds of all-natural whole grain products.Bob's Red Mill is dedicated to the manufacturing of natural foods in the natural way. In their own words: "With all the sophisticated knowledge of recent times, no machinery has yet been developed that grinds grains into flour quite as well as our flint-hard quartz millstones quarried in France and used by discriminating millers since early Roman times."

"Our well-dressed (sharpened) sets of millstones turn the highest quality wheat into a finer, better baking bread flour than all the hammer mills, steel roller mills, steel mills, or pulverizers ever built! These slow turning millstones grind the bran, endosperm, and germ (containing its nutritious wheat germ oil) into flour in a cool natural way, creating a more assimilable food."

Bob's Red Mill stone grinds all common and most uncommon grains into flours and meals on its over 100-year-old mills. They mix them into an astounding array of unique cereals, pancake and waffle mixes, machine and hand-made bread mixes, quick bread mixes, gluten-free mixes, and specialty grain products.

Health Notes

Oats

Oats
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Parts Used & Where Grown

The common oat used in herbal supplements and foods is derived from cultivated sources. For some herbal supplements, the green or rapidly dried aerial parts of the plant are harvested just before reaching full flower. Many herbal texts refer to using the fruits (seeds) or green tops. Although some herb texts discuss oat straw, there is little medicinal action in this part of the plant.

Comments about Bob's Red Mill Oat Bran Hot Cereal:

I have been an oatmeal fan for a long time. I was first turned onto oat bran recently when I took a trip to Wisconsin Dells with a friend. We got some Oat bran in a local grocery store there, brought it back to the hotel room, and and had some, and I became an oat bran lover right then and there. It's a great meal, filling, and lots of fiber, and fiber is good for you. I appreciate the crunchy value of it, I like crunchy food.

The brand I got in Wisconsin Dells was a different brand. As to this brand, Bob's Red Mill, no complaints at all, I have been enjoying it raw with coconut oil, natural cane sugar, molasses, carob, and cinnamon. After about a half bowl of this, I am generally able to go all day without eating again.

As a raw-vegan, I recommend if you are going to start eating this or any other oat bran or oat meal instead of dairy since dairy is very bad for you, use almond mile or better yet, coconut oil mixed with water. Coconut Oil is very sweet. If you're going to shop GNC, I recommend adding the Nutiva Coconut Oil to your cart, that's one of the better coconut oils on the market.

Comments about Bob's Red Mill Oat Bran Hot Cereal:

I eat this oat bran every morning after I work out, it has a good ratio of protein to carbs and fiber. I usually mix it with cinnamon and low carb yogurt; but actually it's good on its own. Sometimes I add egg whites to add more protein and a different texture. Pretty decent amount of food to for the amount of calories; I usually do half a cup of oat bran to 2 cups of water, heat it for 4 min (or less) and the let it sit and thicken. It's great!
