Amino Acids Overview

Amino Acids Overview
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Athletic Performance
Dose: Refer to label instructionsAspartic acid is a non-essential amino acid that participates in many biochemical reactions relating to energy and protein. Preliminary, though conflicting, animal and human research suggested a role for aspartic acid (in the form of potassium and magnesium aspartate) in reducing fatigue during exercise.1 However, most studies have found aspartic acid useless in improving either athletic performance or the body's response to exercise.2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Schizophrenia
Dose: Refer to label instructionsL-Theanine is an amino acid present almost exclusively in the tea plant. It has been found to have mood-enhancing and relaxing properties. In a double-blind trial that included patients with schizophrenia or a related condition (schizoaffective disorder) who were taking antipsychotic medications, the addition of 400 mg per day of L-theanine for 8 weeks significantly improved anxiety and various other psychiatric symptoms, compared with a placebo. L-Theanine was safe and well tolerated.1

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. Twenty amino acids are needed to build the various proteins used in the growth, repair, and maintenance of body tissues. Eleven of these amino acids can be made by the body itself, while the other nine (called essential amino acids) must come from the diet. The essential amino acids are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. Another amino acid, histidine, is considered semi-essential because the body does not always require dietary sources of it. The nonessential amino acids are arginine, alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamine, glutamic acid, glycine, proline, serine, and tyrosine. Other amino acids, such as carnitine and taurine, are used by the body in ways other than protein-building and are often used therapeutically. L-Theanine is an amino acid found in tea that is said to help relieve stress. Beta-alanine has been used to prevent fatigue during exercise.

Ive been working out for 17 years and I have tried it all,, this is an awesome product just like the rest of the Epiq line. I mix one scoop of EPIQ AMINO with one scoop of EPIQ POWER and one scoop of EPIQ RUSH and drink it Pre and intra through my workout,, then one scoop of EPIQ AMINO mixed with chocolate EPIQ ISOLATE PROTEIN for my post workout and it taste amazing with the fruit Amino and chocolate mixed together. I hope EPIQ stays around because Im a huge fan and would hate to go back to the other stuff.. Im seeing good results and most important is the endurance EPIQ AMINO gives you.

Comments about EPIQ™ AMINO - Fruit Explosion:

great support when taking pre and intra workout. my personal preference is intra, since i tend to play basketball and lift weights, sometimes i life before, sometimes after. since i started taking Epiq Amino more frequently i notice an strength increase in my legs. more in performance actually, since i've been playing a lot lately. endurance/performance and slight strength enhancement is what i noticed and liked!

            Great BCAA product

            By emergency

            from Scottsdale, AZ, United States

Comments about EPIQ™ AMINO - Fruit Explosion:

I received this as a member of the field test team. Most of us that use bcaa supps know how bad the tub smells when you open it and it was not the case with this at all. That made for a nice surprise first of all. Then I added 2 scoops in cold water and used it intra workout. Was very happy with how well it tasted, mixed, and assisted with pushing me threw my training.

Comments about EPIQ™ AMINO - Fruit Explosion:

Got this product as a free sample. Love the taste and had great endurance throughout the workout. Mixes really well which is great because most BCAA products are hard to mix no matter how hard you shake. Love the addition of SAA's as well. Highly recommended!!
