Athletic Performance

Animal studies suggest that whey protein can increase gains in lean body mass resulting from exercise.1 A controlled trial found that six weeks of strength training while taking 1.2 grams of whey protein per 2.2 of pounds body weight per day resulted in greater gains in lean body mass, but improved only one out of four strength tests.2 Another controlled study found that people taking 20 grams per day of whey protein for three months performed better on a test of short-term intense cycling exercise than people taking a similar amount of milk protein (casein).3 However, a double-blind trial found that men taking 1.5 grams per 2.2 lbs of body weight per day of predigested whey protein for 12 weeks along with a strength training exercise program gained only half as much lean body mass and had significantly smaller increases in strength compared with men using a similar amount of predigested casein along with strength training.4 A controlled study of HIV-infected women found that adding whey protein to strength training exercise was no more effective than exercise alone for increasing strength or improving body composition.5

Obesity

Whey protein may aid weight loss due to its effect on appetite. In a preliminary study, people were given 48 grams of either whey protein or milk protein (casein). Whey consumption resulted in more hunger satisfaction and reduced the amount of food eaten 90 minutes later compared with casein consumption.1 However, a double-blind study found that men taking 1.5 grams per 2.2 lbs body weight per day of whey protein for 12 weeks along with a low-calorie diet and a strength training exercise program lost the same amount of weight and body fat as did a control group that followed a similar program, but took a casein supplement instead of whey protein.2

Whey protein is a mixture of some of the proteins naturally found in milk. The major proteins found in whey protein include beta-lactoglobulin and alpha-lactalbumin. Whey protein has one of the highest protein digestibility-corrected amino acid scores (PDCAAS; a measure of protein bioavailability) and is more rapidly digested than other proteins, such as casein (another milk protein). 1

        ALL THE GUYS AT THE GYM USED TO use this product (the original formula) and we all agreed that it was the best preworkout available. Now that the formula has changed, it is no longer effective for any of us, and we are all very dissappointed and are now trying other products!!!!!! It looks like they removed some of the anabolic muscle primers/test boosters (fenugreek, saw palmetto, and calcium HMB), but probably most importantly the fenugreek. These were probably removed because they don't taste that great, but fenugreek and HMB are also in the GNC RAW re-built MASS protein (because they work), and give the same strange taste to that product.
        I am seeing similar complaints on forums, and the sales mgr at the store said he is hearing the same complaints!
        PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL FORMULA!!!!

        This product makes me feel a lot of different ways, and depending on your lifestyle or dedication, I would/wouldn't recommend this to you. This product really does work, definitely take it 30-45 minutes before workout, if you workout to soon, you WILL get an upset stomach. I use 12oz of water, but depending on if you want it to taste less bitter/spicy and more sweet, use 16oz of water. Never use before or near bedtime, or you WILL have a very hard time sleeping. For people who workout during the day, this product would be more suitable for you. This product makes me feel very jittery and energized, so if your are very susceptible to caffeine, you may want to cut back on the dose. All in all, the only reason this product doesn't get a five star rating is due to taste, but then again everyones taste buds are different.

          This is definitely the best preworkout I have taken. Take a look at the ingredients and you know it has to be good. I was previously taking C4 until the GNC guy got me to try this. It pretty much has everything C4 has and more, plus twice as much creatine and beta alanine. The only con is that the scoop is really big and it doesn't fit well in the container. Also it only comes with 20 scoops and it costs $40 so not quite the best value.

            Being a female I use only pre-workouts for lifting. I have used C4, Neon Volt and now Ravage. The label reads to wait 30-60min, the first time I waited 30min and felt nothing. The second day I waited 60min and felt an intense focus and release of energy, but nothing has been felt since besides drowsiness. Its just a pain taking such a large scoop compared to C4 and Volt, plus it doesn't taste too nice so I must chug it quickly. I've been told females don't always react the same as males when supplements settle in, but I figured I'd try this anyways. I've tried using it first thing in the morning for lifts and then tried it in the afternoon and no results still.

            Do not see why formula has changed. Was told by sales associate that there is a special new ingredient in it, so I gave it a shot even though I knew he had no clue what he was talking about. Didn't see any improvement, it actually tastes more like n.o. loaded v2 which I dont care for. Old ravage was MUCH better. The terrible taste was slightly addictive too. Never had a problem with it simply because it worked well for me despite the price, lack of servings and taste. Seriously considering shopping other places. Beyond raw is supposed to be "raw" so to speak. Not candy covered pansy juice like everything else in the store. This line was the only line of product that kept me coming to GNC. Not to mention, the workout just doesn't feel the same. I would recommend to someone inexperienced or who doesn't need a potent pwo supplement and likes a smooth drink, but as for myself I would not buy it again, old ravage is what I like. Beyond raw is my favorite GNC supplement line, please don't kill it for me.

                  I have been buying ravage since it came out. They recently changed the product, so I decided to give it a try. I am always apprehensive when they say they have changed their products. so I gave it a try and purchased the new and improved ravage. I tried it out and I give it a big fat "F". Horrible product did absolutely nothing for me. It also does not mix well. All I can say to GNC is that you have lost a loyal customer.
