        I've been taking 500MG GNC brand niacin for 5 years to raise my HDL. It works very well. Prior to taking niacin, my HDL was never above 40 and averaged around 35. No matter how well I ate or how hard I worked out. Then someone recommended niacin. Now my HDL is never below 60. I take 1000 mg per day. I get the flushing effect that others complain about but it is minimal and only lasts about 10 minutes. I highly recommend it.

          This product does have the flushing effect. I feel refreshed and rejuvenated after taking this pill. I am taking it to lower my LDL cholesterol levels. Will see if it actually works when I go for labs in November. One thing is for sure, it does feel like it is working. If you take it with lots of water it minimizes the flushing effect. Also, I would advise that you take the product mid-day. If I take it after dinner, I am up until the early morning hours.

            Within about 1/2 hour of taking this I was itching, burning, and beet red. I usually buy "no flush" niacin, but didn't notice this was not a "no flush" product until I got home. How bad could it be? I found out. I thought I wiped Jalapeno juice on my face (literally) until my legs, arms and everything in-between began burning. Lasted about 2 hours. Yikes! Going back to no-flush niacin.
