HIV and AIDS Support and Preservation of Lean Body Mass
Dose: 1.5 grams of HMB, 7 grams of L-glutamine, and 7 grams of L-arginine twice per day

The combination of glutamine, arginine, and the amino acid derivative, hydroxymethylbutyrate (HMB), may prevent loss of lean body mass in people with AIDS-associated wasting. In a double-blind trial, AIDS patients who had lost 5% of their body weight in the previous three months received either placebo or a nutrient mixture containing 1.5 grams of HMB, 7 grams of L-glutamine, and 7 grams of L-arginine twice daily for eight weeks.1 Those supplemented with placebo gained an average of 0.37 pounds, mostly fat, but lost lean body mass. Those taking the nutrient mixture gained an average of 3 pounds, 85% of which was lean body weight.

          I started taking one a day on non-workout days. And two on workout days about two hours before my workout. In just two weeks I've noticed my muscle texture has become fuller and define in nature. I know it is recommended to take three a day, I will most likely work up to it. Also I've noticed more energy and less muscle pain, not a tremendous amount, just a little, but, it was noticeable!

              I use less than the suggested dosage, because I take in a lot of leucine. I stack it with creatine and glutamine.

              HMB is the best thing that I take. It reduces muscle soreness to near zero. As a result, my workouts are longer and more intense, and 2x/day now. I have tested the effectiveness by pushing certain body parts well beyond their previous limits, and the next day, they felt fine.

              I suggest this product to everyone that I discuss fitness with.

              This greatly improved my workouts and real world life afterwards. I normally am a little sore a day after a hard workout. Then a little more sore the next day and by the third day I hurt like hell. This kills my workouts. With HMB I can go all out and work the same muscle group two times a week and never really even get sore. If you are like me this is a must.

              This suppliment seems to be most effective for the first three or so months that you take it, and then it's effects seem to wane. Definitely one of my favorites to cycle through, though, using it for a couple of months and then dropping it for a month or so. It is expensive, though, because the recomended doses are 12 pills per day. Thus the 240 count bottle is actually less than a month's supply. If you have the cash, though, give it a try. I'm certain you'll notice obvious effects, especially if you've never taken it before.
