Goji Berry

Goji Berry
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Goji berries are also a rich source of zeaxanthin, a carotenoid that when consumed becomes concentrated in the macular pigment of the eye and may help protect the retina.1, 2 Both human and monkey studies have shown that consuming goji berries or extracts high in zeaxanthin raises blood levels of zeaxanthin,3, 4, 5, 6 but only animal research has verified that goji berry consumption increases macular pigment, and no research has looked at whether goji berries provide protection from diseases of the retina.

Fruits sometimes don't stay fresh long enough and vegetables are also expensive, so this was an addition to my smoothie twice a day .Directions on products like this sometimes like most foods are for certain acquired tastesbuds. The key is if you watch food cooking shows to emprovise or try to add to get your desired taste. Its the best way to get fruit and vegetable daily intake in a simple cost effective way.

Comments about GNC SuperFoods Whole Food Blend - Berry:

I bought this in preparation for a 10 day detox. I have used shakes for some time and thought I would divert from my Life's Basic standard. Bad decision on my part. This is very metallic smelling and tasting, and is just hard to swallow. Really foul and I wonder about the heavy metal content possibilities with such a strong odor and taste. If considering, move on. First timers, keep looking. This is just nasty.

I bought this to put in smoothies to add a little extra nutrition to my diet. As much as I try, I just can't stand the taste and doubt I'll make it to the end of the container. I can add about 1/2 scoop to a 16oz smoothie. Anymore than that, forget it. I'm not drinking the smoothie. Don't know how anyone could stand to drink it with just water.

I probably would agree with all those who say it tastes horrible if I mixed it with water. I drink this every morning in a blender drink consisting of banana, apple, orange, sweet potato, dried cherries and grapes or berries (either strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries etc). Each ingredient is proportioned so that the finished drink, when mixed with dark chocolate almond milk makes about 30-32 oz. I arrived at this mix thru trial and error and the Whole Foods Blend only enhances the flavor of this drink. If this mixture is too thick just reduce the proportion of each ingredient and increase the almond milk. You might also like the vanilla almond milk.

OK....everyone here complaining about the taste should just well for lack of better term, "man up". It is not that bad, and I am guessing you tried it because you don't like the taste of the necessary foods you need in your diet or don't have the time. I don't find it that egregious even in water, and if it is bad....oh no, down 20 onces of bad tasting healthy drink and move on with your day. Not everything good for you tastes like candy.

I add this to my smoothies. Yes the taste is different than a protein shake. Very different. But that is because of the ingredients. These superfoods are absolutely amazing for you. Honestly it could taste a lot worse! I would still drink it though. The texture is awesome and it thickens my smoothies up nicely. Love it. I feel so much better after drinking it. My energy levels have spiked and I've lost weight!

I must agree this product does taste horrible in WATER, I found that out very quickly after buying it. I dont really eat alot of vegetables or anything healthy so I bought this product cause I found it half off. It is very healthy for me, the way I tolerate it is by mixing it in cranberry juice. Give it a shot with cranberry juice and youll love it every morning.

Wow. I'm trying it because it has so much healthy stuff in it, but my goodness I can't taste the berry flavor.

I can't judge its effectiveness just yet, because it smells like snuff and there's nothing I can add it to to completely mask the flavor. It says to use 4 scoops but I added 1/2 of a scoop to 16 ounces of fruit smoothie and couldn't taste the smoothie. It tastes like death.

Comments about GNC SuperFoods Whole Food Blend - Berry:

I can say I have been around the block a few times looking for supplements to get better nutrition. I do not have the budget to spend a lot of money and do not have access to the kinds of foods that I need to get that nutrition. I read the reviews on this and seeing as though it is so mixed I decided to try it myself. Yes, it does not taste very good. However, compared to some of the things I have tried such as cleanses and health mixes, its bearable. Think about all that is in here and ask yourself if you can mix fruits, vegetables, and protien and have an end result being a great tasting drink that the family will love. If great nutriton was tastey and easy then everyone would do it. I think the benefits outway the unenjoyment of drinking it. Try it out for yourself.
