Health Notes

Menopause

Menopause
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by some in the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

About This Condition

Menopause is the cessation of the monthly female menstrual cycle. Women who have not had a menstrual period for a year are considered postmenopausal.

Most commonly, menopause takes place when a woman is in her late forties or early fifties. Women who have gone through menopause are no longer fertile. Menopause is not a disease and cannot be prevented. Many hormonal changes occur during menopause. Postmenopausal women are at higher risk of heart disease and osteoporosis, presumably because of a decrease in the production of estrogen or other hormones.

Comments about GNC Women's Progesterone Cream:

This cream is easy to use and also a nice moisturizer. I use it In the Morning and in the evening after during regular hygiene. I alternate locations of application. When I use it regularly I sleep easier and for a full night. I am more tolerant, experience less hot flashes and it seems to help me keep my apetite in check.

The only negative is (two fold) my local store always has limited quantities and recently when I ordered this product at the store to be delivered to my home it came late-I was out of product, and I ordered and paid for 2 jars; but only one was delivered.

I am confident of the benefits of this product and will continue use.

Comments about GNC Women's Progesterone Cream:

This product is a complete waste of money. I purchased it thinking it was like other standard progesterone creams that have 40 mgs of progesterone per dose. This item only has 10 mgs in the ENTIRE bottle. My doctor even said it was a useless product. Dont waste your money. Spend a few more dollars and invest in Pro-gest instead.

Comments about GNC Women's Progesterone Cream:

This product was recommended to me by a relative to help with night sweats & hot flashes. I've been using it in combination with GNC'S Phytoestrogen Formula dietary supplement for a couple of weeks. I've noticed a big change in night sweats having 1 or 2 a nite down from 10+. Still having hot flashes but they seem to be less frequent & don't last as long. I hope that as I continue to use the products they will become even more effective & will stay that way once the 90+ degree hot humid Florida weather arrives. So far I've been pretty pleased with the effectiveness of the products.

This works so far so good after three days!
I have tried bioidentical hormone cream and all it did was make me retain fluid. and cost alot of money. I met a girl at the pool who said try progesterone cream and I am glad I did. I hope it continues to help me with the flashes. I am 47, and according to my blood work almost post menopause. Everyone is different, for the price you just have to try it to see if it helps you.
