Health Notes

Maca

Maca
Common names:
Black Maca
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Parts Used & Where Grown

Maca is a cruciferous vegetable in the mustard family, related to radishes and turnips. Used as food and medicine in the Andes Mountains of Peru, it is not known to occur naturally anywhere else in the world. The four major cultivars of maca are red, black, cream, and purple; none has been definitely proven to be medicinally superior to any other.

Comments about NATURES WAY Nature's Way® Maca Root:

I am 49 and have been going through menopause for several years.I started using over the counter estroven several years ago, about a year ago it stopped working, so I added Vitamin E that worked for awhile. Heard great things about Maca Root online. After 1 week I was sleeping instead of 2 hours a night 6 hours a night, no hot flashes or night sweats. SO much energy, I have been doing serious cleaning washing windows and even cut grass in March LOL I feel like I am in my thirtys again. Life Changing and I have only been taking it about 3 weeks.

Comments about NATURES WAY Nature's Way® Maca Root:

I have been taking this for 15 days. I felt better in 24 hours. I take it to relieve PMS & Premenopausal symptoms. Before I took this my hormones were having a raging fit & unfortunately so was I. Everything would bother me, it seemed like I was just looking for a fight. Now, I feel normal again and peaceful, like I used to feel before all these hormones started fluctuating in my body over 20 years ago. I feel so much better, feel happier, less stressed, less moody & not so irritated. My husband & kids have also notice a difference.
Start taking slowly and gradually work up to the maximum dose to avoid upset stomach or itchy skin.

I was informed I had imbalance hormones and did research online and found MACA. I have been taking Maca for about two weeks, 3 times a day and right away I have notice nights sweats have stopped, unwanted chin hair has disappeared, my sex drive is up, and my hair is feeling lush again. I would definitely recommend Maca for similar symptoms.
