Product Information

Description

D-Mannose is a naturally occurring simple sugar that ismetabolized only in small amounts by the body, withthe remainder being rapidly excreted with the urine. In the urinary tract, D-Mannose interferes with particleattachment and allows everything to be flushed out inthe urine stream.* Clinical studies have demonstratedthat when taken regularly, D-Mannose can help tomaintain a healthy urinary tract.* Because insubstantialamounts of D-Mannose are used by the body, it doesnot interfere with healthy blood sugar regulation.*

Health Notes

D-Mannose

D-Mannose
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

D-Mannose may help treat UTIs by binding to bacteria that would otherwise attach to the urinary tract lining.(more)
Urinary Tract Infection
Dose: Refer to label instructions

Some bacteria that typically cause urinary tract infections can attach themselves to the lining of the urinary tract by binding to molecules of mannose that naturally occur there.1 Theoretically, if enough D-mannose is present in the urine, it would bind to the bacteria and prevent them from attaching to the urinary tract lining.2 One animal study has demonstrated this protective effect,3 but whether it would occur in humans is unknown, and no human research has investigated the effectiveness of oral D-mannose for the prevention or treatment of urinary tract infections.

D-mannose is a simple sugar structurally related to glucose. It is absorbed slowly from the gastrointestinal tract, and then a large proportion of it is excreted into the urine.1
