Top Secret Nutrition® 100% Whey Protein is a rich source of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). BCAAs are essential for athletes, due to their ability to metabolize directly into the muscle tissue and be utilized during the initial periods of exercise and resistance training.
Top Secret Nutrition® 100% Whey Protein provides the body with over 5.7 grams of BCAAs to replenish depleted levels, and accelerate the repair and rebuilding of lean muscle tissue.
Top Secret Nutrition® 100% Whey Protein is an excellent source of the essential amino acid, leucine. Leucine is important for athletes as it plays a key role in promoting muscle protein synthesis and muscle growth.
What Is AstraGin™?
AstraGin™ is a proprietary all natural plant derived compound extracted from highly fractionated Panax notoginseng and Astragalus membranaceus using a proprietary pharmaceutical extraction and processing technology. AstraGin™ is the first and only natural compound that has been demonstrated in vitro, in vivo, and in human studies to significantly promote and improve the absorption ofamino acids, glucose, and vitamins at the cellular level, i.e., greater amount of these nutrients are transported from the blood stream into cells, rather than floating in blood stream, for improved bioavailability.
How AstraGin™ WorksThe basic mode of action for AstraGin™ is to increase the absorption of amino acids, glucose, and vitamins through the regulation and paralleled alteration on both the protein and mRNA expression levels of the nutrient transporter genes. The Specific Health Benefits of AstraGin™In vitro, in vivo, and human studies have demonstrated that AstraGin™ can significantly increase (up-regulate) or decrease (down-regulate) the following specific bio markers:
- Increases the steady-state absorption rate of amino acids such as Arginine and Tryptophan by 66.7% and 52.5%*
- Increases vitamin absorption by 50% as studied with Folic Acid*
- Increases intestinal glucose absorption by 57% that is converted to glycogen in muscle cells*
- Increases ATP production by 18%*
- Helps support healthy blood glucose and insulin levels*
- Increase glycogen in muscle cells (24 hours after strenuous exercise) by 60%*

Whey Protein for Sports & FitnessWhey Protein
Why Do Athletes Use It?*
Some athletes say that whey protein serves as another protein choice in their diets.
What Do the Advocates Say?*
Protein is necessary for rebuilding tissue-this is especially important for bodybuilders. All types of protein provide the body with amino acids. From an athletic point of view, whey is just another type of protein. Choosing whey protein over other types of protein simply adds variety to the protein choices available.
Whey is a common ingredient in many meal replacements, which are designed to provide a large amount of nutrients in a minimal amount of calories.
How Much Is Usually Taken by Athletes?
Animal studies suggest that whey protein can increase gains in lean body mass resulting from exercise.1 A controlled trial found that six weeks of strength training while taking 1.2 grams of whey protein per 2.2 of pounds body weight per day resulted in greater gains in lean body mass, but improved only one out of four strength tests.2 Another controlled study found that people taking 20 grams per day of whey protein for three months performed better on a test of short-term intense cycling exercise than people taking a similar amount of milk protein (casein).3 However, a double-blind trial found that men taking 1.5 grams per 2.2 lbs of body weight per day of predigested whey protein for 12 weeks along with a strength-training exercise program gained only half as much lean body mass and had significantly smaller increases in strength compared with men using a similar amount of predigested casein along with strength training.4 A controlled study of HIV-infected women found that adding whey protein to strength-training exercise was no more effective than exercise alone for increasing strength or improving body composition.5*Athletes and fitness advocates may claim benefits for this supplement based on their personal or professional experience.
