Michelle Adams: FBB Professional Fitness Champion / Expert Distance Runner / GNC Ambassador

GNC Ambassador Michelle Adams is a true power and speed combo. She grew up competing in track and field events and graduated to distance events after school. In 1995, at the urging of her friends at the gym, she entered the National Physique Committee South Carolina State Fitness Championships. She finished 11th out of 13 contestants. Undaunted, Michelle worked with a strength coach and a year later won the same event! In 2003, she earned professional status with the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness. In 2012, Michelle ran three marathons in 21 days: the Boston Marathon on April 16, the Big Sur International Marathon on April 29, and the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 6. Whew! Today, Michelle lives in Florida and competes in both fitness and distance running events.

Why GNC?

Michelle is a GNC Ambassador because she believes in the company and is a regular GNC customer.
She tells us why:

Sure, you can buy supplements anywhere. But how do you know you bought what you needed? Without well trained staff to help you decipher your needs and what products fit your needs the best, you are shooting in the dark. GNC stores are staffed with associates who can best match you and your lifestyle with the best supplements to aid you in reaching your goals.
Quality is also a key in supplements. Buying something cheap does not mean that you are buying quality. We all appreciate the high quality of cars and electronics. Supplements are no different. I don't mind paying a few dollars more if that means building my body with quality. I'm sure you would agree.
Without supplementing my daily routine, I would not be able to perform at the level that I do and recover adequately. Let's face it. We aren't getting any younger. At 39, I feel better, look better and perform better than when I was in my 20s. Hands down, these supplements allow me to do what I do.

9:00 amEat cream of rice, mixed berries, mixed nuts and take ABB Performance Pure Pro® 50.

The rest of the day is the same as far as food goes. Serving sizes are larger depending on the duration of the run. My diet does not follow an in-season/off-season as it would if I were competing in the physique world. Things stay pretty much the same year-round with the only changes being made to the quantity of food as my mileage increases.

New to Sports Supplements?

My clients often ask me about this or that obscure supplement, and this is what I tell them. There is no way to out-supplement a poor diet. That being said, here is what I would say to a newbie in the supplement world.

  1. NEVER skip your post workout shake! If you are looking for a place to start, this is it. If you are training without proper recovery nutrition, you are wasting your time.
  2. Don't get caught up in the hype of all of the advertising claims for this or that before you get your post-workout nutrition down!
  3. GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 without a doubt.
  4. Multivitamins should go without saying. They are an insurance policy for your daily nutrition. You wouldn't drive a car without car insurance so why would you eat without nutrition insurance?
  5. From there, high-quality fish oil is a must. The typical American diet leaves people with a much higher omega 6 intake relative to omega 3. A ratio of too much 6 and not enough 3 can lead us down a dangerous road. Fish oil supplementation is one way to try to bring this to a more favorable ratio.

Michelle's Favorite Products

In Michelle's List below, she reveals the key products that power her fitness and endurance workouts. All the products on Michelle's List can be bought at GNC.com and added to your My Lists page.

GNC Women's Ultra Mega® Active

I take GNC Women's Ultra Mega® Active as an insurance policy for nutrition to help support my metabolism and energy, strengthen my bones and cushion my joints during long runs.

GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60™

I take GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 both pre-workout and post-training. I like that this product has a high concentration of amino acids and branched chain amino acids which can help me avoid muscle protein breakdown, initiate muscle protein repair and muscle protein synthesis.

GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Maxertion N.O.™

I take GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Maxertion N.O. one hour before I exercise to get an extra burst of power so I can run one more mile or lift one extra set.

GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Muscle Igniter 4X

Glutamine is one of the most important amino acids that any person can take. If I don't take my daily glutamine, my muscle recovery suffers.

GNC Pro Performance® Creatine Monohydrate

I take GNC Pro Performance® Creatine Monohydrate in a post-workout shake to help support my high-intensity workouts.

GNC Pro Performancereg; RapidDrive™ BCAA 5000

I use GNC Pro Performance® RapidDrive BCAA 5000 before and also during weight training and long runs because my body uses these essential amino acids as fuel during exercise.

GNC GNC Pro Performance® RapidDrive™ Glutamine 5000™

I take GNC Pro Performance® RapidDrive Glutamine 5000 before and after training. L-glutamine is an amino acid involved in protein synthesis. As is the case with some endurance athletes, I tend to have lower than optimal L-glutamine levels because of my intense workouts.

GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Endurance Booster

I LOVE this stuff! I will take GNC Pro Performance® AMP Amplified Endurance Booster on my long run training days. I like that this product helps me improve my endurance performance and maintain electrolyte balance.

GNC Pro Performance® HMB

I use GNC Pro Performance® HMB about two hours prior to training. This product helps to support my muscles during exercise and also supports protein synthesis.

GENr8™ Vitargo® S2

I take this after weight training and after shorter runs in a post-workout shake. This helps me to increase glycogen stores for faster absorbing muscle energy.

ABB Performance Pure Pro® 50

I love to add this protein shake to my coffee as a creamer!

GNC Total Lean™ CLA

I take CLA with lunch to help me maintain lean muscle.

GNC TriFlex™ Sport

I take GNC TriFlex Sport at bedtime for its anti-inflammatory benefits.

GNC Triple Strength Fish Oil + Resveratrol

I take GNC Triple Strength Fish Oil for its anti-inflammatory benefits. I like this fish oil because it also includes the antioxidant resveratrol.
