Women’s Prenatal Formula with DHA GNC Prenatal Formula with DHA is a premium multivitamin that provides nutritional support for both mother and baby before, during and after pregnancy. Pregnancy is a special time in a woman’s life and an important time to be mindful not only of your individual nutritional needs of your baby as well. Maternal nutrition before and during pregnancy affects both your well-being and your infants growth. As your baby develops through the early phases of life, your nutritional needs will also increase. After delivery, you need an adequate diet rich in essential nutrients such as calcium and folic acid to support nursing and replace depleted nutrient stores. This delicately blended multivitamin with DHA offers supplemental nutritional support for both you and your baby.

Nutritional Support
  • Supplies a balanced nutritional blend combining vitamins, mineral and antioxidants to supplement a healthy diet. Emerging research suggests that antioxidants can help protect the body from harmful free radicals that can destroy healthy cells.*
  • Features 500 mg of DHA, an important omega-3 fatty acid. DHA plays a vital role in supporting the healthy development of a fetus brain, eyes, and nervous system.
Folic Acid
  • Provides 1,000 mcg of folic acid, critical during the earliest weeks of pregnancy when a baby’s organs are forming. Adequate intake of folic acid in a healthy diet before and during early pregnancy may reduce the risk of birth defects of the brain and spinal cord. Folic acid is also required for cell growth and DNA formation.*
Calcium & Bone Health
  • Features 600 mg of bone-strengthening calcium which is vital during pregnancy, especially during the third trimester when fetal bones begin to calcify. If a mother’s calcium level drops, her body can pull calcium from her bones resulting in loss of bone density. Also includes 400 IU of vitamin D-3 to enhance calcium absorption.*
  • Includes iron to support placental and fetal needs and a mother’s increased blood volume.*

This prenatal formula with DHA was recommended by my sister's OB Gyne so i bought it here in the USA because it is out of stock in the Philippines. So i believe that this supplement is helpful for the preggy moms out there.

Great vitamins but do not order online
I think these vitamins are great but I would not recommend ordering online. I have received orders on more than one occasion where the pill was broken during delivery. I was looking forward to the monthly subscription auto save but just cancelled after receiving another bottle with a popped pill. I have to go back to a store and exchange it again.

Love them
Just found out I am preggers after trying for 3 years!! Woo-hoo! My OB told me to immediately get a prenatal with DHA. GNC has always been my first choice for all vitamins so I went and found this with the help of an associate. They are huge but because they are softgels they went down smooth, very smooth, and I havent haf any discomfort or sour stomach with them like other chalky prenatals. So I'll be using these throughout my pregnancy ;)

It says take 3 a day with meals as a dietary supplement, however I need this for prenatal vitamins not a diet. Is it alright that I've been only taking one a day (with a meal of course)?
A shopper on Sep 28, 2012

I am preparing for getting pregnant in these one or two month, is it suitable for me to take the prenatal formula, or it is only for those who already pregnant?
A shopper on Jun 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Not only is it suitable to take before pregnancy, its recommended. "Women’s Prenatal Formula with DHAGNC Prenatal Formula with DHA is a premium multivitamin that provides nutritional support for both mother and baby before, during and after pregnancy." This is quoted right off their products webpage and is repeated on many parenting, motherhood, and pregnancy websites all over the web. I hope this helps and good luck.
I work night shift and sometimes my eating schedule gets really messed up. If I have slept all day, is it safe to take all three prenatal vitamins at the same time when I get up in the evening?
A shopper on Sep 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: You should doublecheck with your physician before taking three GNC Women's Prenatal vitamins (one dose) when you get up in the evening. It's probably okay, as when you rise, that's your "morning" and I do not see any restriction on the time of day these vitamins should be taken, but you should doublecheck.
I was wondering if it was ok to take all three vitamins early in the morning. My old prenatal vitamins was only one a day so the box really doesn't specify at what times should they be taken. Please help :)
A shopper on Oct 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The GNC prenatal formula vitamins need to be taken with food. Anytime of day is fine provided that they are taken with food. If you are having morning sickness then you would probably want to wait until later in the day.
I realize that GNC Women's Prenatal Formula with DHA and Tripple Strength Fish Oil 1500 both contain DHA. I want to make sure if it is safe for a pregnant women to eat them at the same time.

I bought these about 1.5 weeks ago, as me and my husband are trying for baby #1. I have been experiencing slight heartburn for about a week. I have read that vitamin c in prenatals can cause heartburn, however, I was taking vitamin c long before switching to prenatals with no heartburn issues and I very rarely get heartburn. Any chance that heartburn is a side effect of these pills and if so, any advice on how to help the situation (i really don't want to switch pills b/c these were the best option from all the ones I compared it to)?

Isn't 1,000 mug of folic acid way to much?
A shopper on Jul 7, 2016
in the Supplement Facts you listed, is the amount referring to per capsule? or the total amount of 3 capsules? if 3, the DHA taken per day would be 1500mg. it's unreasonable. these 3 capsule is really big compared with my previous brand. I am concerned that if it overdose for a pregnant woman to take 3 per day. thanks!
