- Health Notes
-
Melatonin
Melatonin- Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
- Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
- For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.
Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.
For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Comments about Natrol® Melatonin TR:
Haven't used it that long, but it does seem to work. I took regular melatonin before, and I would wake up in the middle of the night. Now, with the time-release, I am sleeping through the night more often.

Comments about Natrol® Melatonin TR:
For the last eight months I have suffered from tinnitus and up until I discovered this product, I was unable to sleep more than an hour at a time even with Ambien CR or Lunesta, both of which made me feel awful. Now I find that if I take the Melatonin TR about 30 minutes before going to bed I am able to fall asleep rather quickly. Some nights I may not stay asleep for more than four hours, but compared to my sleep patterns of six months ago, I am delighted with four hours. The other night I actually managed to go back to sleep for an additional 3 hours. I realize that not everyone has the same results but I can truly say that this product works for me.

Comments about Natrol® Melatonin TR:
I used this product to go to sleep at night and get a restful night's sleep. Used to use Ambien. At one time I used the TR released 3 mg GNC Melatonin. It quit working. So I went to GNC 5mg. But they did not have a TR. When I saw this, I thought it would be great to have the 5mg TR. It does not make you drowsy in 20 minutes like it says. As a matter of fact, it does not make me drowsy at all. I've even taken it on an empty stomach. Maybe, it's just my body chemistry. I have always had a history of insomnia. But in my opinion, it was a waste of money. I have had to go back to the GNC 5mg Melatonin.
