Bitter herbs are thought to stimulate digestive function by increasing saliva production and promoting both stomach acid and digestive enzyme production.1 As a result, they are particularly used when there is low stomach acid but not in heartburn (where too much stomach acid could initially exacerbate the situation). These herbs literally taste bitter. Some examples of bitter herbs include greater celandine, wormwood, gentian,dandelion, blessed thistle, yarrow, devil's claw, bitter orange, bitter melon, juniper, andrographis, prickly ash, and centaury.2. Bitters are generally taken either by mixing 1-3 ml tincture into water and sipping slowly 10-30 minutes before eating, or by making tea, which is also sipped slowly before eating.

Very little published research is available on the traditional uses of bitter orange as a digestive aid and sedative. The German Commission E has approved the use of bitter orange for loss of appetite and dyspeptic ailments.3 One test tube study showed bitter orange to potently inhibit rotavirus (a cause of diarrhea in infants and young children).4 Bitter orange, in an herbal combination formula, reportedly normalized stool function and completely eased intestinal pain in 24 people with non-specific colitis and, again in an herbal combination formula, normalized stool function in another 32 people with constipation.5, 6

Bitter orange has a history of use as a calming agent and to counteract insomnia. There is no clinical trial data to support its efficacy in this regard. The usual amount of tincture used is 2 to 3 ml at bedtime.1, 2

Obesity
Dose: Refer to label instructionsAlthough historically used to stimulate appetite, bitter orange is frequently found in modern weight-loss formulas because synephrine is similar to the compound ephedrine, which is known to promote weight loss. In one study of 23 overweight adults, participants taking a daily intake of bitter orange (975 mg) combined with caffeine (525 mg) and St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum, 900 mg) for six weeks lost significantly more body weight and fat than the control group.1 No adverse effects on heart rate or blood pressure were found. Bitter orange standardized to contain 4 to 6% synephrine had an anti-obesity effect in rats. However, the amount used to achieve this effect was accompanied by cardiovascular toxicity and mortality.2

Parts Used & Where Grown

The dried outer peel of the fruit of bitter orange, with the white pulp layer removed, is used medicinally. The leaves are also commonly used in many folk traditions. The bitter orange tree is indigenous to eastern Africa, Arabia, and Syria, and cultivated in Spain, Italy, and North America.

      After doing research and comparing pre-workouts, i decided to give this a try and man do i love it! Within 2 weeks i increased my curls by 20lbs, and i put 2 inches on my arms in just one 30 serving container of this, i tried a few other pre-workouts but in the end i came back to this, the orange flavor is amazing and easy to mix, i recently picked up my second container of this and can't wait to get that boost of energy and increased pump again, definitely worth trying out!

          I used C4 20-25 minutes before my workout and I found that 2 servings will give me the energy to last twice my normal workout. Be sure to assess your tolerance but this product is safe to use as long as you use it accordingly and not abuse it.

          c4 is a great pre workout, my favorite is the pink lemonade but orange is also pretty good... this doesnt make me crash like some pre work outs ive used, the energys great, makes me wanna kill the sets for hours... this stuff is awesome... ive used several pre workouts before c4 and i wouldnt go back to any of them... i definitely recommend this to anyone lookin for a great pre workout, or try n-zero extreme if you want something creatine and sugar free, that also works quite well

              This is probably my favorite pre-workout product, at the moment. The ingredient profile is solid and the feeling and focus are great. You can take this at one scoop and still get a good serving of what you need, but two scoops is what I prefer for longer workouts or doubling up on sessions if you miss a day. The caffeine level is perfect for combining two scoops. A lot of products have such a high stimulant blend, that adding more than one scoop is really taxing on the CNS and adrenals; that is not the case with C4. The flavoring is great, too. I actually enjoy all of the flavors and have been lucky enough to try samples of all the ones that I didnt actually have a full tub of. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. Cellucor is a

                I have used C-4 as a preworkout supplement for approximately 8 months now and have recently been trying some of the newer products that are coming out in response to C-4's Popularity.

                Alarm is the only more powerful preworkout explosion that has a longer lasting effect than c4. C4 will last approximately 90 minutes to 120 minutes in your system driving you to better results.

                Alarm on the other hand continues to push you well after the 2 hour mark. I usually workout for about 90-120 minutes a night and when i was using ALARM... i showered and ate and one hour later- i was still sweating and entirely jacked up.

                Alarm is a great product, but for those of us that would like to be able to relax post workout- C-4 is the much better choice to get the same results AT A CHEAPER PRICE!

                I would only recommend ALARM for those morning gym sessions focused on cardio at 2+ hours.

                  first I would like you to know I am 61 yrs. young and I do have BPH and mildly high blood pressure which is easily kept under control.I took one scoop of C-4 just before I worked out for about 6 weeks 2 to 3 times a week,then I got some kind of urinary tract infection ( it burned and hurt really bad).So I stopped taking it and after a month it went away.Then I noticed I really didn't need it anyway,so be carefull using it.

                      As my headline for this one says, Cellucor did great with this product in terms of energy, I'm not as big of a fan of the orange flavor as I was of the fruit punch, blue raz, or the pink lemonade.

                      But, as my other reviews say, take this 30 mins before my lifts and am ready to go within 10. Love this stuff.

                      Would recommend to anyone.

                      Was given a bottle of this flavor to review from cellucor, but wasn't quite a big of fan as I was of the fruit punch, blue raz, or pink lemonades i was given.

                      Try this before your workout. You wont be disappointed.
