Compared with other protein supplements, rice protein has more of the amino acid arginine, and since arginine is a vasodilator that can enhance blood flow to tissues, some athletes believe rice protein may also improve blood flow to muscle to enhance growth and repair. However, no research has investigated the effects of rice protein on athletic performance.

Rice protein is extracted from rice and used in some protein supplements. Vegetarians may prefer it over protein supplements made from animal sources (such as whey or casein, which are milk proteins). Since rice is rarely involved in food allergies,1 rice protein may also be preferred by people with food allergies, and may be suitable to use in hypoallergenic infant formulas.2 Rice protein is not a complete protein, however, due to insufficient levels of the amino acids lysine and threonine.3, 4 Therefore, these amino acids are often added to rice protein products to correct this imbalance.

        This is one of the best tasting protein bars I've tasted. I eat 1/2 at a time, heat it in the microwave for 20 seconds and it tastes like you are cheating on your diet. The calories are a little high at 200 for 1/2 bar and the carbs up there - but as long as you aware of that this is a great diet tool. I am telling my friends about this.

        I read the review which described this bar having a "sour milk" taste, so I bought a couple of bars to try instead of a box. I can't taste anything that the previous reviewer was describing. To me, this bar is among the tastiest protein bars I've ever had! It tastes just like a cinnamon roll! It's so tasty that I really cannot believe it's healthy for you. I microwaved it for 10 seconds, then ate it as a snack between meals. It has 50% more carbs than protein, so I consider it good to eat earlier in the day when I need the extra carbs (probably before my workout).

          I got this because it has a high protein content and figured I could cut it in half (I can only eat a few ounces of food at a time and try to watch my calorie intake).

          I tried the 1st half just at room temperature. The texture is like sawdust, very crumbly with an odd mouth-feel. The taste was dry and left an aftertaste in my mouth that didn't go away, almost a sour milk taste.

          I heated the 2nd half up several hours later, in the hopes that it would be improved. If anything, it got worse. The texture was similar (dry, crumbly) but the sour milk taste remained and was actually intensified by the heated nature of the bar. In both cases, I managed 2 - 3 small bites and had to throw the rest away because I couldn't handle the taste.

            Tastes amazing, very much like an actual cinnamon bun.

            I tend to use this for breakfast when I'm cutting, it's quick and easy to throw in the microwave, keeps me going for hours.

            I got this flavor and chocolate chip, cinnamon roll is the hands down winner.
