Health Notes

Acai

Acai
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Dose: Refer to label instructions

Acai is reported to be a traditional remedy for dysmenorrhea. There is preliminary evidence that anthocyanins from bilberry, some of which are also found in acai, may help with dysmenorrhea symptoms.1 However, there have been no clinical trials investigating acai's effect on dysmenorrhea.

Parts Used & Where Grown

Clusters of round, dark purple-to-black, berry-shaped acai fruits are harvested to make juice, ice pops, and herbal supplements. Ethnobotanists have also documented folk medicine uses for the seed oil, fruit rind, and roots. The inner core of the thin trunk of the acai tree is well-known as the source of hearts of palm. Acai is primarily grown in the Para region of the Amazon estuary, in the northern region of Brazil. It also grows in French Guyana, Panama, Ecuador, and Trinidad.

Comments about Vega® Sport Pre-Workout Energizer - Acai Berry:

I love this product. After reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I love the fact that it is a plant based product being that I am a vegetarian. My muscles cramp less during my workouts so I am able to perform much better. Purchased it again. Looking forward to trying other Vega Sport products.

Comments about Vega® Sport Pre-Workout Energizer - Acai Berry:

Who I am: I'm 25. I've been lifting regularly for ~12 years and good exercise and nutrition are a lifestyle for me. I lift 4 days a week and take my workouts seriously.

I drink this product ~30 mins before work outs, stirred in with a glass of water. The product doesn't taste great, but it's not bad either. It's kind of fruity like a juice box or something but you can definetely tell you're drinking a dietary supplement.

This product does not get you pumped up or make you jittery. It's not overpowering but gives a good boost which sustains me through my workouts. It simply does exactly what the label says, "increases energy, endurance, and mental focus." It's difficult to describe but I definetely recommend people give it a try before taking something more extreme.

Also, I like this drink because it is Vegan approved (although I'm not remotely Vegan) and, presumably, has less artificial junk in it.

Note: I also take the all natural 100% when protein and the Mega Men Powered Strength Vitapak.

Comments about Vega® Sport Pre-Workout Energizer - Acai Berry:

Please disreguard the last review I gave, I gave it a low rate when it didn't deserve it. You learn to get use to the taste. But the energy it gives you in return is well worth it.It is best to mix it with a light drink or water a half hour before you work out. The description says 20 minutes, but 30 minutes is a lot better. I am recovering from to major medical surgery that left me extremely sensitive to vitamins, powders and etc. It is truly a good supplemnet with no side effects. And my stomach is extremely sensitive to side effects from products I consume. It's well worth the buy.

Comments about Vega® Sport Pre-Workout Energizer - Acai Berry:

I started using Vega pre-workout energizer b/c I wanted to stop drinking Red Bulls to wake me up on the way to the gym. This Vega product mixes easily with H2O, tastes fine - not too sweet, and is all natural, so it's not as unhealthy as all of those carbonated energy drinks. I have more enthusiasm for my workout and I get warmed up faster when I drink this product. I mix & drink it when I get to the gym, and it "kicks in" within 15 min. Unlike caffeinated drinks, it does not keep me up at night. Some might find it is not sweet enough, or they might not its rusty water appearance, but I take health over taste any day.

I use it before INSANITY, P90X, or anything and it gives me the right mix of sustained focus and energy WITHOUT any UN-natural or questionable ingredients. Its vegan (plant-based), so I believe its safe with plenty of energizing nutrients!
