Health Notes

Conjugated Linoleic Acid

Conjugated Linoleic Acid
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

This supplement has been used in connection with the following health conditions:

Obesity
Dose: 3.2 to 4.2 grams daily
Though the evidence is conflicting, some studies have shown CLA to be effective at helping people lose body fat. (more)
Athletic Performance
Dose: Refer to label instructions
Conjugated linoleic acid may play a role in reducing body fat. Research has reported that CLA supplementation produces minor gains in muscle size and strength in weight-training men.(more)
Prostate Cancer
Dose: Refer to label instructions
Preliminary research suggests that CLA might reduce the risk of cancers at several sites, including breast, prostate, colorectal, lung, skin, and stomach.(more)
Breast Cancer
Dose: Refer to label instructions
Preliminary research suggests that CLA might reduce breast cancer risk.(more)
Obesity
Dose: 3.2 to 4.2 grams dailyA double-blind trial found that exercising individuals taking 1,800 mg per day of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) lost more body fat after 12 weeks than did a similar group taking a placebo.1 However, two other studies found that amounts of CLA from 0.7 to 3.0 grams per day did not affect body composition.2, 3 Most double-blind trials have found that larger amounts of CLA, 3.2 to 4.2 grams per day, do reduce body fat;4, 5, 6, 7 however, one double-blind study of experienced strength-training athletes reported no effect of 6 grams per day of CLA on body fat, muscle mass, or strength improvement.8

Athletic Performance
Dose: Refer to label instructions

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a slightly altered form of the essential fatty acid linoleic acid. Animal research suggests an effect of CLA supplementation on reducing body fat.1, 2 Controlled human research has reported that 5.6 to 7.2 grams per day of CLA produces only non-significant gains in muscle size and strength in experienced and inexperienced weight-training men.3, 4, 5 A double-blind study of a group of trained men and women reported reduced body fat in the upper arm after 12 weeks of supplementation with 1.8 grams per day of CLA.6 Further research using more accurate techniques for measuring body composition is needed to confirm these findings.

Comments about Cellucor® CLK - Raspberry:

I have been trying to lose the last 10 lbs. for about 4 years now, no exaggeration. I did my own research and decided to give it a try, I was not coaxed into the purchase. I have been on this product for 2 weeks now (stacking it with caffeine stimulant) and have officially lost 4 lbs. Dont get me wrong, this product works BUT I put in a ton of work as well. If you're looking for a miracle product to magically drop 20 lbs you will be disappointed. But just like anything else with a clean diet/exercise it will aid in the process. Also, I hate taking tons of pills and although these pills are large they are incredibly easy to get down. I will be buying again!

I was at GNC and the stores manager talked me into getting two of the big bottles. He said EVERYONE was buying these and they would work well. WELLLLLL I took one full bottle of them exactly as directed at the max dose.... I didn't loose a pound! It was none stimulant which is what I was looking for but it didn't do anything but make my wallet lighter! I like cellucore C4 but I was so upset with this product!

i bought 2 bottles of 90 pills, based off of help at the GNC store and knowing i didn't want a stimulant. I started with the 1 pill before each meal 3 times a day, then went to max 2 before each meal. I'm now 3/4 the way through the 180 pills, have lost 3 pounds.

You take 3 of these as soon as you wake up. It gives you all day appetite control. There is no caffeine so it doesn't make you jittery. The ingredients are listed and are all safe. There are no "proprietary" ingredients. It's expensive, but GNC will price match if you find it cheaper somewhere else. Take it for no more than 8 weeks.

Ok. I work for GNC and wanted to give a review for this product. It is a STIMULANT FREE product.Do not expect any energy if any. It tells you for maximum weight loss take 2 servings(6 pills)a day.If you can't handle the pills, this is NOT the product for you.You would take this 3 pills in the morning, 3 pills before you hit the sack.YES the ingrediants are based off the famous daytime show. Finally, does it work?YES, however it requires dedication and patience. It is a natural weight loss support. Natural can range from a month to three months.RESULTS DEPEND ON THE PERSON.It is a pricy product taking the max dose, but buying individually would be MORE pills and MORE money.I have been losing weight even after just having my daughter! Hopefully I was of help!
