Health Notes

Branched-Chain Amino Acids

Branched-Chain Amino Acids
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

This supplement has been used in connection with the following health conditions:

Athletic Performance and Mental Decline During Exercise at Extreme Temperature

Athletic Performance and Mental Decline During Exercise at Extreme Temperature
Dose: Refer to label instructions

Some research has shown that supplemental branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) (typically 10 to 20 grams per day) do not result in meaningful changes in body composition,1 nor do they improve exercise performance or enhance the effects of physical training.2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 However, BCAA supplementation may be useful in special situations, such as preventing muscle loss at high altitudes and prolonging endurance performance in the heat.8, 9 One controlled study gave triathletes 6 grams per day of BCAA for one month before a competition, then 3 grams per day from the day of competition until a week following. Compared with a placebo, BCAA restored depleted glutamine stores and immune factors that occur in elite athletes, and led to a reported one-third fewer symptoms of infection during the period of supplementation.10 Studies by one group of researchers suggest that BCAA supplementation may also improve exercise-induced declines in some aspects of mental functioning.11, 12, 13

The branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are leucine, isoleucine, and valine. BCAAs are considered essential amino acids because human beings cannot survive unless these amino acids are present in the diet.

Works great! I've been using this stuff since January 29th and the taste is amazing and it works well. Definitely recommend this for fast recovery, however I would much more recommend GNC's Beyond Raw Re-Power supplement over this. I just returned this today for Re-Power and don't regret it!

I am sorry but tropical punch taste like I mixed the stuff in my gym clothes. This is by far the worst tasting BCAA I have ever consumed. I heard great things about this product. I am only saying that the product taste horrible, not what it actually does for you. It gives me energy, but I don't know if it's me just trying to pump myself up to finish this drink. I am serious. I am shocked on people saying this taste good. IT DOES NOT! Modern, purple wrath... those are tastey BCAAS, but if you get tropical punch, I warned you.. WORST TASTE EVER! I would not recommmend this flavor to anyone.

I would definitely recommend this product. I noticed right away the difference when I started taking it during my workouts. I do Insanity and T25 and I had a lot more energy throughout the workout and was able to keep up and complete the workout. Once I ran out of the product I did not buy anymore for about two weeks. Immediately, I noticed a difference. I was like more tired and sore the next day after doing Insanity. I also got tired a lot quicker throughout the workout. I definitely recommend this product as it gives you more energy during the workout and definitely helps with muscle sorness and fatigue the day after.

I can really tell and the difference after not using the BCAA's for 2 weeks. I'm sore and not as pumped as I was when I first started. I tried another brand but wasn't impressed by the taste nor the feel I got from it, it was no where near as effective as the Cellucor. I need my Cellucor...NOW! Great Product.

I have been taking the Tropical Fruit for a few weeks now and like it. However since it has beta alanine in it you will likely get a tingling affect when you drink it. I don't notice the tingling when I take it during a workout but if I drink it in the morning (I drink a BCAA or SAA each morning on the way in to work) I feel the tingling and it is annoying. So, I only drink this during workouts. It mixes well and tastes good.

I purchases this yesterday at GNC Kailua. Representative said it was very popular and it had good reviews, so I purchased. Very easy to take, when using the blender bottle. I was very surprised, it tastes pretty well. Can already feel the cooling effects from my insanity workout.
