  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

Taste: (10/10) When I first received this product, I thought the taste would be overwhelming. Even smelling the product, I thought the marshmallow would overpower the peanut butter taste. Trying it for myself, I learned that the peanut butter taste and marshmallow taste blend very well together and neither is overwhelming. I sometimes mix this protein with the molten chocolate and it taste so similar to a Reese's cup and it is an absolute satisfying taste.

Mixability: (8/10) Obviously this product is in a powder form and just like anything else that is powder when trying to mix it, it can be complicated sometimes. I use a blender cup which extremely helps a lot. If you try mixing this product in just a plain cup with like a spoon, you're more than likely to get clumps in your protein shake. With a blender cup, there's a metal ball inside your shaker which ensures the powder gets broken down all of the way so I would definitely recommend one of those when taking protein.

Effectiveness: (9/10) Overall, this product does it's job. Sometimes I supplement this as a snack because that is somewhat the purpose of protein and it truly does make me feel full which prevents from eating unhealthy food. Even when I eat dinner or lunch, a protein shake always makes a great drink for a meal which again prevents you from eating a lot and makes your stomach feel satisfied.

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

This is easily one of the best tasting protein powders I have ever used! Just the peanut butter taste alone would have made this really stand out, but when the marshmallow is added it just takes the taste to a whole nother level. It has a really creamy taste, it's sweet(but not too sweet), and the flavors really come through. With some protein powders your left searching for the flavor through the powdery/chalky taste, Not with this one!

The taste is amazing! It mixes extremely well even just with a spoon. I would definitely recomend giving it a try. I'm Thankful that I was offered the opportunity to try it out and provide my feedback. I will continue to use this protein as a part of my regular training program.

I was skeptical at first at Cellucor's new whey protein and ordered this on a whim. I just had my very first glass and was blown away by the taste. The taste along with the great protein count may make this my new post workout shake over Dymatize elite gourmet which i have been using for close to 2 years.

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

I am lucky enough to be able to test out the new celluor whey protein. I would rate peanut butter marshmallow a 8/10. Honestly, I thought it was ok, and it tasted more of peanut butter for my taste. I would say that the mixability is a 9/10. I stash this product at work and I usually drink as shake there once a day and when I shake it, I still see some clumps in there. The profile is a 10/10. 130g cals and 25g of protein can match the rest. It it also low of fats and carbs. The price is about a 8/10 for me. Even though it is $45 for 4lbs, it matches other protein powders out there based on profile. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try something new flavor or anyone that loves peanut butter. Great product overall.

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

First thing I noticed was the peanut butter aroma that comes out when first open the jug. Next is the mixing part. It mixed very well in water, nearly perfect with little sticking to the walls of the cup. Next came the taste. The taste was a very very light peanut butter taste. A little too light for me which made me not quite a fan. Don't get me wrong though, you can make it sweeter if you prefer it to be and I did. For me that made a big difference from a 5 to a 7 1/2. At 25g per protein per scoop and low to mid 100's calories per scoop makes this one a winner.

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

I am a huge fan of protein powders and I have tried almost every kind in the industry. A good profile is key when it comes to any type of supplement in my opinion, but taste is what makes someone want more and more. Cellucor has definitely gotten the taste down to a T. The new Cellucor Cor-Performance Whey tastes amazing. This stuff is by far the best tasting protein on the market.

                    PROFILE: PER SCOOP
                    Calories: 120/130 depending on flavor
                    Fat: 1.5g
                    Carbohydrates: 3G
                    Protein: 25g
                    Naturally occurring BCAAs: 5.5g

TASTE: 10/10: This stuff is amazing! I typically make my protein shakes within unsweetened almond milk and with this it's like a milkshake. It's awesome. I also mixed some with water to test out the taste and you can barely tell that you mixed it with water because it tastes so good. When I am craving something sweet, I now go to this protein shake to crave my sweet tooth. There are also 6 different flavors.

EFFECTIVENESS: 9/10: I consume 2 scoops (66g) of the Cellucor Cor-Performance protein directly following my workouts and it helps with my recovery tremendously. It allows my muscles to repair quicker. I also look at it as a treat after my workouts because it tastes so good. It has a great profile. With the 25 grams of protein per scoop and the 5.5 grams of BCAAs my recovery is awesome.

PRICE: 9/10: Cellucor has made this protein with the consumers in eye. Everyone looks at Cellucor products and turn away because they think that they are priced too high. You get what you pay for, and Cellucor makes high quality products. This new protein is very affordable for anyone to go pick up.

OVERALL 9.5/10: Overall this protein is amazing. A great profile, amazing taste at a very reasonable price. I encourage everyone to at least give this stuff a try because once you try it, you will want more. There are 6 different flavors. I would defiantly recommend this product.

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

Taste: 9/10--I think Bob put this best in his review when he referred to the Cinnamon Toast Crunch-like taste. I couldn't agree more with that. Its hard to say whether or not its "better" than other cinnamon proteins because if you want more of a "cinnamon roll/cinnabon" taste than its like apples to oranges. I will say though that being I love Cinnamon Toast Crunch that this protein is to die for.

Mixability: 10/10-- I rarely give perfect scores out, but this is honestly the best mixing whey product I've used thus far. It has mixed flawlessly in oats, batters, sludge, whatever I throw at it. No clumping what so ever.

Ingredient Profile: 9/10-- Not really anything to complain about here. Its got a solid amount of whey per serving and very few carbs/fats so those looking for a good whey complex will not be disappointed.

Cost: 7/10--Don't get me wrong here, it is a little pricey but then again you're getting a PREMIUM product. You get what you pay for so the reality is you're making a wise investment when you purchase this protein.

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

This is not Cellucor's first attempt at a protein powder, so they have some experience in the field. Their other protein powder, Super Sport, may have failed to take off due to the price. Moreover, the product was only available in Chocolate and Vanilla, which are boring flavors from my point of view. Protein powders are becoming like ice cream flavors nowadays, and with the endless selection, how many people buy plain old chocolate and vanilla ice cream? COR-Performance Whey is not only more affordable, it is available in far more exotic and alluring flavors, and I was able to try Peanut Butter Marshmallow and Cinnamon Swirl. Each flavor has 130 calories in a 34 gram serving, containing 25 grams of protein. Therefore, the protein percentage is about 74%. This is quite good because I usually select products that have around 70%. That is the range where I expect good taste without being loaded with fillers.

                      Taste:
For the taste test, I drank a shake, used the flavors in a few different recipes, and I mixed each flavor into a bowl of cooked oats. I rely heavily on protein powder to flavor the food I eat, and if the protein powder is not tasty then the food will not be appetizing. Out of the two, I prefer the PB Marshmallow. Cinnamon Swirl basically tasted like unflavored protein with cinnamon sprinkled in and a dash of sugar. Maybe that is what Cellucor was going for, but I have had other cinnamon flavors that mimic a whole cinnamon roll, right down to the dough and icing with a creamy finish. I thought PB Marshmallow was more unique and the taste is tough to describe. It does not taste like peanut butter or marshmallow, yet it is still scrumptious.

                      Ingredients:
As for the profile, the ingredients start off with a combo of whey isolate and whey concentrate. I am not sure why companies bother to put protein sources into a proprietary blend. There is nothing proprietary about protein. It does not actually matter how much protein comes in the form of isolate or concentrate, because the only actual reason to prefer isolate is lactose intolerance. Isolates are more expensive though, and Cellucor's Whey is primarily composed of whey isolate. Based on the cholesterol content (whey isolate is virtually free of cholesterol), I am guessing that the blend is 51% isolate and 49% concentrate, but once again, it does not matter since both sources are high-quality protein. I believe a combination of whey and casein is the best option, but whey is terrific on its own as well. After protein, there is simply flavoring, thickening agents, and digestive enzymes. Those cautious of artificial sweeteners may not like seeing acesulfame potassium listed on the label, but those people are fearful of everything. I would not recommend chugging an entire scoop of pure acesulfame potassium, or any other sweetener for that matter, but the tiny amount in COR-Performance Whey is not going to harm anyone. There are far worse additives that are used in other protein powders, but I will not go into that. There is salt in the formula, but the sodium remains low. The fat and calories are precisely what I expect from a protein powder. I generally look for 10-20 calories to come from fat with 2-4g of carbs. All of Cellucor's flavors fall within these boundaries.

                      Effects:
The effects of the COR-Performance Whey are fairly straightforward. The product provides you with an essential nutrient, protein. Human beings need a sufficient amount of protein on a daily basis, not only to sustain life but also to build muscle. Research has indicated that exercising individuals need additional protein in their diet compared to sedentary individuals. Failure to meet protein needs will slow growth and inhibit recovery from training. Protein powder serves as a convenient method of meeting protein requirements each day. Protein is unquestionably effective, and protein powder supplies it. Many people use protein shakes as an easy way to ingest high quality protein after training. Evidence is not yet clear whether this is more or less effective than eating a meal of whole foods high in protein. To get the best of both worlds, make a bowl of sludge or proats and stir in cereal or fruit. If you are not familiar with sludge or proats, figure it out immediately!

                      Competition Comparison:
In comparison to the competition, the two most common whey protein powders are made by Optimum Nutrition (ON) and Dymatize. These protein powders are really only purchased by beginners who are unfamiliar with what else is out there. You can bet that once they try a different product, they will not be going back to ON or Dymatize. ON's product might have been considered a decent tasting protein in the 90's, but it pales in comparison to the competition these days. Not to mention their prices are way higher than they should be. Dymatize has never been known for being experts at flavoring either, but at least their products are more reasonably priced. There is no reason to drink a product that you do not enjoy drinking. With the flavoring offered by Cellucor and other lesser known companies, you should be savoring every sip. Cellucor is not at the top of the list when it comes to taste, but they easily beat out the competition offered by the big companies. Furthermore, they managed to do so with a profile that is similar, if not slightly superior, in terms of macronutrients and protein percentage. I particularly like that COR-Performance Whey is a bit thicker, because I cannot stand thin, watery shakes. The thickness also helps with cooking and can act as a binder in recipes. Of course it is not as thick as a protein blend containing casein, but it is still thicker than the two whey products being used for this comparison. Unfortunately, Cellucor is more expensive per gram of protein than both ON and Dymatize. I cannot help but think Cellucor would benefit from dumping their sponsored athletes, as the expense is clearly being passed on to consumers. I have no idea what purpose they even serve. No one believes that they use the products, and surely no one buys a company's products based on who they sponsor. Nevertheless, it is worth spending a few extra bucks to get a protein powder that satisfies taste buds.

COR-Performance Whey is definitely a product worth trying. I urge everyone to continue trying various protein powders to find the product that best suits your personal preference. Do not try one product, find it to be adequate, and then assume it is the best. You would not eat at one burger joint and automatically assume that they have the best burgers in the world. I have tried an endless selection of protein powders, and COR-Performance Whey ranks among the top choices in the whey category. I will be going for the Strawberry Milkshake flavor next!

Comments about Cellucor® COR-Performance™ Series WHEY - Peanut Butter Marshmallow:

I recently received two of the 2 lb'ers to review, Cinnamon Swirl and Peanut Butter Marshmallow.

Peanut Butter Marshmallow: I've tried this flavor in both water and skim milk. Interestingly, I prefer this whey in water. Opening the tub, the smell you get is strongly of peanuts. Not peanut butter, but peanuts. The flavor tastes just like a Nutter Butter. I get the sweetness that the marshmallow refers to, but this really does taste like a Nutter Butter cookie. This also mixes up thicker than I would expect. With 25 g of protein per serving, a total of only 3 g of carbs, 1.5 g of fat and a total of 130 calories, this is perfect for a post-WO shake or first thing in the morning.

Cinnamon Swirl: Upon opening the tub, this stuff smells a lot like a Yankee christmas candle. I would describe this more specifically as Cinnamon Cake Batter - cake batter flavored whey, with a light cinnamon flavor. Also prefer in water over milk.

Overall, of the two I prefer PB Marshmallow, but try for yourself!
