Amino Acids Overview

Amino Acids Overview
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Athletic Performance
Dose: Refer to label instructionsAspartic acid is a non-essential amino acid that participates in many biochemical reactions relating to energy and protein. Preliminary, though conflicting, animal and human research suggested a role for aspartic acid (in the form of potassium and magnesium aspartate) in reducing fatigue during exercise.1 However, most studies have found aspartic acid useless in improving either athletic performance or the body's response to exercise.2, 3, 4, 5, 6

Schizophrenia
Dose: Refer to label instructionsL-Theanine is an amino acid present almost exclusively in the tea plant. It has been found to have mood-enhancing and relaxing properties. In a double-blind trial that included patients with schizophrenia or a related condition (schizoaffective disorder) who were taking antipsychotic medications, the addition of 400 mg per day of L-theanine for 8 weeks significantly improved anxiety and various other psychiatric symptoms, compared with a placebo. L-Theanine was safe and well tolerated.1

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. Twenty amino acids are needed to build the various proteins used in the growth, repair, and maintenance of body tissues. Eleven of these amino acids can be made by the body itself, while the other nine (called essential amino acids) must come from the diet. The essential amino acids are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. Another amino acid, histidine, is considered semi-essential because the body does not always require dietary sources of it. The nonessential amino acids are arginine, alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamine, glutamic acid, glycine, proline, serine, and tyrosine. Other amino acids, such as carnitine and taurine, are used by the body in ways other than protein-building and are often used therapeutically. L-Theanine is an amino acid found in tea that is said to help relieve stress. Beta-alanine has been used to prevent fatigue during exercise.

Comments about MuscleTech® Amino Build™ - Fruit Punch:

As part of Muscletech's Field Test Team, I was given the opportunity to try this product. I have been using this product for about a month now, and I am truly blown away. Drinking this during my workout provides such a noticable effect. My muscles feel so much more full during my workout. Aside from that I am able to recover between sets noticably faster and feel truly unstoppable. Amino Build also really helps how fast my body recovers the next few days after working out, which means it is that much quicker I am able to hit that muscle group again. I honestly cannot think of a reason not to keep using this product as the recovery difference is night and day.

I was a big fan of the old Muscletech IntraVol and was sad when it was discontinued, but Amino Build has more than made up for it. I mainly use it during my workout. Definitely helps with strength, energy and most importantly, endurance. I don't get tired and can workout much longer. Also tastes great and mixes well. Would def recommend to anyone looking for a solid amino product.

Comments about MuscleTech® Amino Build™ - Fruit Punch:

This is one of the best amino drinks I ever had, the white grape was a very unique and enjoyable flavor along with the green apple if you wanted a different flavor. I had both of them and the recovery from an amino product is just out of this world. This is a 2 in 1 product, no need for a recovery supplement just take this and you have that along with amino's. It took 5 shakes at most with a shaker cup and the amino build was completely dissolved.

Comments about MuscleTech® Amino Build™ - Fruit Punch:

So far I have taken this product four times so I feel like that is good enough to give a review on my thoughts and experiences with this product. The first three times were all one scoop post training and the last time was during training at 1.5 scoops. I only noticed a small amount of recovery from the first 3 times. It was not very noticeable in terms of soreness reduction. I did notice it helped with sleep to a small extent. However, the 1.5 scoops during training was very noticeable in assisting me with endurance. I noticed I was able to train a lot more intense and made my recovery in between sets greater. I was able to rest less and train a lot more! I dont keep track of time but the next look I gave at the clock I noticed that time passed by extremely quickly and I felt like I could keep going. I am interested in seeing my recovery the next day if I take it during instead of after. I know it sure helped my training very much! Anyone who needs better endurance and/or recovery should definitely give this product a try. If taste is an issue then one should definitely dilute this because it doesnt have the best taste. Mixes with no issues at all besides a little bit of foaming. There are no residue bits or anything like that after you are done drinking. I give mixability a 9! After I try this out a few more times I will edit this review and state how it works for me with the continued use. So far I definitely recommend trying this during training!

Comments about MuscleTech® Amino Build™ - Fruit Punch:

This is a very good amino product. I can actually feel this working when I drink it. My favorite time to drink this is in the morning on my way to work. It does not contain stimulants, but it somehow helps me to wake up and feel refreshed. When I drink it during workouts, it seems to give me a little extra boost. It also mixes really well to be an amino supp. Usually amino supps have that foam at the top, and they never fully mix. This mixes really well as long as you shake it softly or stir it. If you shake the hell out of it, it does tend to foam a little. I also like the fact that the fruit punch flavor has absolutely zero amino aftertastes. The green apple has the aftertaste, but it is very subtle. I am confused as to why the fruit punch doesn?t have the aftertaste and the green apple does; however, that is the way it is. I would recommend this to someone who would like an amino supplement they can actually feel working. I would say that if you want to eliminate stimulants this would be a great early morning pick me up drink.
