Health Notes

Acetyl-L-Carnitine

Acetyl-L-Carnitine
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Comments about GNC Acetyl-L-Carnitine Alpha Lipoic Acid:

I like the product but I have to take 1000mg instead of the suggested 500mg to feel any effect. Other than that it works great havn't felt the jitters yet with it. Downside is I took product a couple of hours before I was going to bed and I ended staying up thinking good thing is I made waffles instead (^.^)b#

I seen this product on Dr Oz. I tried it & feel great. I've been taking it since 2009. If I go without it I just don't feel right. It gives me more energy and I'm not stressed out like I was. I love this product.

Used to take Juvenon which is the same combination but a branded product - and costs considerably more. This is a great alternative.

It's definitely hard to evaluate this supplement, but that's the case with a lot of supplements. Long-term, maybe this is more helpful, as the research suggests. Since I started taking it, I haven't noticed any difference. I can tell I'm passing it in my urine about 2-3 hours after I take it, so I'm not sure how much my body is actually using. In any case, I got it on the cheap and I believe in its long-term effects.

I bought this product to promote healing after surgery. I was pleasantly surprised to find it improved my mood when tired. Usually not very happy when I didn't have a good night's sleep. It seemed to help my mood when I was tired. I now can handle being tired much better than ever!
