Iron
Iron- Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
- Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
- For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.
Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.
For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Iron is an essential mineral. It is part of hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying component of the blood. Iron-deficient people tire easily in part because their bodies are starved for oxygen. Iron is also part of myoglobin, which helps muscle cells store oxygen. Without enough iron, adenosine triphosphate (ATP; the fuel the body runs on) cannot be properly synthesized. As a result, some iron-deficient people become fatigued even when their hemoglobin levels are normal (i.e., when they are not anemic).

Comments about GNC Women's Iron Complete:
I am, or was I guess, against supplementing altogether. I am a strong believer that vitamins and minerals should be consumed mostly with a healthy balanced diet (and it is possible!). Well, I have been iron deficient for as long as I know....I am a pescotarian and have been for a long time also. After journaling my food intake for 2 weeks, I realized that I simply do not get enough iron in my diet, even though I consume foods that are high in iron often.
Let me just add that I am very active; hiking, running, biking...
I started these supplements about 2 weeks ago, and am now feeling the benefits!! WOOHOO! Exercising is more fun when you feel great during it, not just after! I have more energy, like my muscles are finally getting the oxygen they have been crying out for, and am less ADHD feeling (when iron anemic it's common to not be able to concentrate).
I was very concerned about GI issues, and have faced non; still as regular as ever!
A bonus is: this can be taken on an empty stomach, and the pill is relatively small packed with the essential vitamins needed to absorb the iron more efficiently. People keep in mind, if taking iron supplements, do not consume with milk or any other high calcium foods; drinks; the calcium inhibits the absorption of iron thus making it less effective. This also goes for supplementing calcium too.
So bottom line, I've found what my body has been wanting so badly, with zero ill effects! YESSSSSSSS!- My Beauty Routine Takes:

Comments about GNC Women's Iron Complete:
I take one tablet daily to maintain a "normal" hemo level in my blood. For whatever reason, I seem not to metabolize iron properly; this formula enables my body to use the iron I need to survive.
For 10 years I was so anemic my doctor constantly urged me to take iron supplements, warned me I was close to needing a blood transfusion. Seven years ago I DID receive two units of whole blood.
The transfusion only brought my iron out of the danger zone. I still needed iron supplements, but all upset my digestive tract.
Then I discovered these! No nasty side effects, just gradual improvement. Took 2 a day until my hemo reached the "Normal" range (almost a year!) now I take one a day.Pros

Comments about GNC Women's Iron Complete:
This has the ferrous fumarate form of iron which absorbs easier in the body and does not cause the stomach cramps like the ferrous sulfate form does in so many people. Keep in mind this one has B vitamins in it which give you energy, so taking it at night might be an issue for some. When I get short of breath from iron issues, this product works fast. This is a keeper GNC! :)

Comments about GNC Women's Iron Complete:
This is a great iron supplement. I have tried others as I tend to be anemic and this is much easier on my stomach. I also love that it has vitamin c and B vitamins to help with absorption and also to help the body build up its iron. I take one in the morning and one in the evening and my iron levels stay where they should.

Comments about GNC Women's Iron Complete:
I have had the gastric bypass and I was told that we do not absorb the ferrous sulfate and was instructed to use this instead. Since I have my numbers have been climbing. This is the only place I can find this kind of iron supplement and with a high dose as well. It's worth it to use this and I don't usually endorse things. Take it for what it's worth.

Comments about GNC Women's Iron Complete:
My fiance and I are both gastric bypass patients and as a result are required to take iron daily for the rest of our lives. This is the only supplement we have found that is ferrous fumarate in 30 mg size. Due to our surgery we have to take fumarate. I do wish we could get it in both 30 and 60 mg sizes. My fiance has to take 2 per day and I only need 1.
