MUSCLE FACT
Fast and slow twitch are generalizations for
more specific muscle fiber types. Physiologist
classify human muscle fibers as Type 1 (slow
twitch; slow oxidative, SO), IIa (fast twitch; fast
oxidative glycolytic, FOG), IIab (intermediate
fiber), and IIb or x (fast twitch; fast glycolytic,
FG). In general, slow twitch fibers are relatively
fatigue resistant, but do not contract as rapidly
or as strongly. Fast-twitch fibers contract more
rapidly and forcefully, but fatigue more quickly.
Although all fiber types respond to intense
training, fast twitch fibers tend to have a greater
ability for hypertrophy (growth).

[2 stars] It has been speculated that AAKG may increase production of nitric oxide, a substance known to enhance blood flow. In one study, AAKG improved measures of strength and short-term power performance in weight lifters.Nitric oxide is the popular name for AAKG (arginine alpha-ketoglutarate), a compound made from the amino acid L-arginine and alpha-ketoglutarate, a substance formed in the body's energy-generating process. AAKG is a popular supplement among bodybuilders and other athletes because of claims that it increases production of nitric oxide in muscles. Nitric oxide is known to have blood-flow-enhancing effects,1 which could in theory increase the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to exercising muscle. While L-arginine by itself is known to increase nitric oxide production, no research has been done to show that AAKG does the same. However, double-blind trials of AAKG suggest it improves some measures of strength and power resulting from weight training.2, 3

I bought this because it was cheap, and I love Muscle Milk so I figured anything else from Cytosport was worth a try. It tasted decent compared to most other pre-workouts, but it wasn't effective for me. I didn't get the energy boost or the sustained energy for longer workouts. It's also inconvenient because you have to drink 3/4 of it 45 minutes before your exercise, and the other 1/4 halfway through your routine. Don't waste your time with this one.

I like to drink this before morning lifts. It gives me energy (caffeine) and let's me work harder and longer. I definitely feel more sore a few hours later even after drinking a protein shake. If you love to lift hard and have an intense workout this stuff is great. It makes you really want to work hard and have an intense workout and when I drink it all I can do is focus on training.

To be honest, I bought this on closeout at a local GNC and I am never going to buy any "pre-workout" drink like this ever again.
I am a very healthy person who my sport and overall health very seriously and I cannot see where such a product could ever fit in.
This review may just seem like a huge rave to shoot this product down, but please bear with me. It does an awesome job of dilating blood vessels and creating more bloodflow to the body, but it has many different side effects.
After taking the product, I have developed headaches which have lasted all day long, loss of mental clarity, odd muscle spasms in my left arm and hand, and it upsets my normally very hardy stomach.
You may find that the increased blood flow is worth all these side-effects, but to me, it is just not worth it.
The money is much better spent on EAS creatine monohydrate(the best out there-all the tablet creatines are all marketing hype),a good whey protein isolate, or Vitargo S2 for energy.Pros

This stuff gave me the most intense workout I have had in long time, there was not a big case of the jitters but it did keep me going through my whole workout. I was completely done with my routine but the energy was still there. I take the supplement just like it says too, and the results are phenomenal. The taste is great and way better than NoXplode. The last thing is the next day I'm not as sore but that might be the fact that I'm stacking this with Muscle Milk Light. Overall this product is amazing and is now part of my daily routine.
