Description
100% Pure Peppermint Oil

Mentha piperita

Peppermint was widely used by the ancient Greeks and Romans, and may have been cultivated by the Egyptians. The term "mint" is from the Greek Mintha, a mythological nymph transformed into a plant by the goddess Persephone after she learned of her husband Pluto's love for her. This oil is 100% pure.

Health Notes

Peppermint

Peppermint
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Parts Used & Where Grown

Peppermint is a hybrid of water mint and spearmint and was first cultivated near London in 1750. Peppermint is now cultivated widely, particularly in the U.S. and Europe. The two main cultivated forms are the black mint, which has violet-colored leaves and stems and a relatively high oil content, and the white mint, which has pure green leaves and a milder taste. The leaves are used medicinally.

Comments about NNF Now® Peppermint Oil:

I suffer from extreme migraines (2+ a week with debilitating sensitivity to light, noise, smells, and severe nausea) and I heard about peppermint oil for temporary relief. I tried this product and it seriously worked quickly until my migraine medicine was able to kick in. It definitely held off some of the pounding and and sensitivity. I'm even sensitive to smells and this still helped. I feel like the peppermint shocks my brain into feeling another sensation besides the throbbing of my migraine. Many blogs say to dilute it if your going to be using it directly on skin. I don't, I just stick one drop on either side of my temples and that's all it takes. Usually by the time the peppermint sensation wears off (my eyes kind of tear up because the smell is strong) my prescription migraine medicine has kicked in and I can act like a functioning member of society again. Expect the smell to linger for many hours, but the sensation is only a temporary relief. I haven't tried it yet for just room aromatherapy.

Comments about NNF Now® Peppermint Oil:

I have chemical sensitivities and perfumes, air fresheners, etc. can make me really sick. I seem to be ok with many essential oils. Peppermint is pretty strong, so only a few drops are needed. I love the aroma. It seems to energize me and lift my mood. An added bonus - mice are supposed to hate it, so a few drops around the house should repel them. I sprinkle a couple of drops on the carpet. I have not noticed stains from it, but, it would be best to try in an inconspicuous area.

Use in our RV to safely repel mice and rats from entering. Simply soak some cotton balls, place into zip lock baggies punch holes in baggige and place at possible outside entry points. Would also work in home attic or basement. It is non-toxic and safe to inhale, however, it does have a potent smell.
