Health Notes

Conjugated Linoleic Acid

Conjugated Linoleic Acid
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

This supplement has been used in connection with the following health conditions:

Obesity
Dose: 3.2 to 4.2 grams daily
Though the evidence is conflicting, some studies have shown CLA to be effective at helping people lose body fat. (more)
Athletic Performance
Dose: Refer to label instructions
Conjugated linoleic acid may play a role in reducing body fat. Research has reported that CLA supplementation produces minor gains in muscle size and strength in weight-training men.(more)
Prostate Cancer
Dose: Refer to label instructions
Preliminary research suggests that CLA might reduce the risk of cancers at several sites, including breast, prostate, colorectal, lung, skin, and stomach.(more)
Breast Cancer
Dose: Refer to label instructions
Preliminary research suggests that CLA might reduce breast cancer risk.(more)
Obesity
Dose: 3.2 to 4.2 grams dailyA double-blind trial found that exercising individuals taking 1,800 mg per day of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) lost more body fat after 12 weeks than did a similar group taking a placebo.1 However, two other studies found that amounts of CLA from 0.7 to 3.0 grams per day did not affect body composition.2, 3 Most double-blind trials have found that larger amounts of CLA, 3.2 to 4.2 grams per day, do reduce body fat;4, 5, 6, 7 however, one double-blind study of experienced strength-training athletes reported no effect of 6 grams per day of CLA on body fat, muscle mass, or strength improvement.8

Athletic Performance
Dose: Refer to label instructions

Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a slightly altered form of the essential fatty acid linoleic acid. Animal research suggests an effect of CLA supplementation on reducing body fat.1, 2 Controlled human research has reported that 5.6 to 7.2 grams per day of CLA produces only non-significant gains in muscle size and strength in experienced and inexperienced weight-training men.3, 4, 5 A double-blind study of a group of trained men and women reported reduced body fat in the upper arm after 12 weeks of supplementation with 1.8 grams per day of CLA.6 Further research using more accurate techniques for measuring body composition is needed to confirm these findings.

I work out 6 times a week but only use a pre workout Thermogenic when I workout in the mornings.

I'm a sweater to start off with so it was no surprise that I sweat with this. But what was so great was that I felt no buzz no shake no racing heart. What I did feel was energized and happy and excited to get moving and a sense of calm. I will definitely by make the investment as I had just tried a few samples I received.

For starters I have taken a lot of supplements in my time and this is by far the BEST TASTING one I have ever had. It does what it is intended to do. I have noticed more energy during my workout. One thing, that isn't that big a deal to me is, I seem to sweat a lot (I mean A LOT) more than normal since I have started this supplement. Nice Product all around.

            CLEAN to the CRANIUM!!!!!!!

              Comments about EPIQ™ RUSH® - Fruit Fusion:

So the claim rings true about the EPIQ RUSH being clean & certified Banned Substance Free. This was realized by me when I first used it. See, where other PWOs begin to reveal their "Dirty" ingredients, EPIQ RUSH shows itself to be "Clean".

There is a point in a workout where less than scrupulous PWO's begin to reveal their less than pure and sometimes straight up overpowering ingredients. At times with them you feel like they were intended for beast moreso than man.

But I, as my custom, took the maximum dose right away. With the Epiq Rush I took 1 1/2 scoop on an empty stomach. It was maybe 7 minutes before I began to feel the effect. Of course you don't want to psych yourself out so timing is key. I washed up got ready to go to the gym. But first I took another 1/2 scoop with a turkey burger and 4 eggs and was out the door. (next time 1 1/2 cup of cereal or oatmeal will be added to the breakfast tally)

Now when I got to the gym I got on the treadmill first. Now I usually sweat profusely regardless of whether I take a PWO or not, but my sweat was a little different this time. Not really more, but noticeably different. It usually starts around the 8 min mark on the treadmill, and it did today...but it was different.

Now I always bring a big squeeze bottle of water with me. And again with some of the other PWOs it does only so much to help. But with the EPIQ RUSH the water was enough to prove the supplement as clean.

When you get that head rush hypnotic with the other PWOs after a grueling set sometimes you have to back off for a second. But with the EPIQ RUSH it is all manageable. That's how I know its clean.

              .....TO THE CRANIUM!

Now I read here about how another guy puts BCAAs in his EPIQ RUSH. I wont knock that, but I wouldn't suggest mixing EPIQ RUSH with any other line of supplements post workout stuff.

I would just stick with the EPIQ brand and obey their product stacking guidelines, unless it is something harmless like protein powder or some BCAAs.

                Comments about EPIQ™ RUSH® - Fruit Fusion:

I have a weightlifting challenge every Friday morning before work so I thought it would be the perfect time to test this out. I have been cycling pre-workouts for the past 6 months so I knew what to expect.

It didn't mix as well as I had hoped but it did taste great. After about 45 minutes, I felt the warm rush when it had kicked in. I had a great deal of energy and had high hopes. That lasted about 30 minutes and then I crashed.

I fatigued so much faster and struggled to complete my sets with good form. After my workout, I go to work a very physical job. I had to have 2 espressos just to stay awake until lunch.

Others seem to have a great deal of success with this product but it actually set me back. Overall, I would say that it works for most but it's not for everyone.

I was hesitant on buying any suppliments after my experience with them when I was overseas for the military. After thinking about it for a few days and reading reviews, I bit the bullet and spent the money on it hoping I could justify it to myself. I am really glad I did. I have never had such good work out sessions like I do now. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now. Definately buy this stuff. When I have the extra money I will be trying different Epiq products!

This is the first preworkout mix and I am not impressed. I was going to buy a different one but the dude at GNC was swearing how good this was and it would be perfect for me. Taste is fine didn't have too much to complain about in that department.it didn't mix so well even after few minutes of stirring and mixing. Now I was asking the guy for something that would really kick in the energy and even with two scoops this gave me none at all. I drink lots of water and take this on an empty stomach early morning training. One positive aspect to it is that it does help your focus level I've noticed that and it makes you sweat more which I liked. No tingly feelings no gutters or stomach pain. Besides really giving me a slight focus boost this product didn't do anything for me.

I got this as a sample last week at GNC when I bought some protein bars. Bottom line: got a lot of flatulence that I never get from other products and felt zero thermogenesis effect. It did however give me endurance for my workout.

Received a free tub to sample and this stuff tastes awesome! Noticed a good bump in energy with 2 scoops and could feel a little extra boost during the latter half of the workout. I add a scoop of my BCAA's to this and really like the effects.
