Description
Promotes Healthy Liver Function*
USDA Organic
Caffeine Free Herbal Tea
What will Organic Roasted Dandelion Root do for me? Dandelion root tea has shown "choleretic" effects, which means that it can stimulate the liver to increase bile flow.* Once bile is released by the liver, its two main functions are to carry away waste and to break down fats during digestion. How do I know it works? Dandelion's beneficial effects on liver and biliary tract function have been proven in pharmacological studies.* When should I use it? Drink one cup prepared with 1 to 2 tea bags, three times daily for up to 4-6 weeks. How does it taste? A pleasant roasted taste, sweet and slightly bitter.

From the corners of the earth, to the bottom of your teacup, we're preserving tradition and creating a sustainable future. For over 30 years we have been making herbal teas blending the ancient art of traditional formulating with the most modern methods to ensure you a consistently reliable and good tasting cup.

We know that you choose to live as if there is a tomorrow, as we do. That's why we purchase our herbs and manufacture our teas sustainability. Whether it's working with a cooperative of herb collectors, supporting organic herb farmers or using 100% wind power to offset our electricity use, we believe that teas that are good for you should be good for the earth.

Health Notes

Dandelion

Dandelion
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

This supplement has been used in connection with the following health conditions:

Parts Used & Where Grown

Closely related to chicory, dandelion is a common plant worldwide and the bane of those looking for the perfect lawn. The plant grows to a height of about 12 inches, producing spatula-like leaves and yellow flowers that bloom year-round. Upon maturation, the flower turns into the characteristic puffball containing seeds that are dispersed in the wind. Dandelion is grown commercially in the United States and Europe. The leaves and root are used in herbal supplements.

Comments about Traditional Medicinals® Organic Roasted Dandelion Root Herbal Tea:

Prior to recent travel to California I wanted to stop drinking coffee. Generally, I drank 1 large (20oz.) cup (and sometimes a smaller cup or even more later in the day) each day. However, I drank much Dutch Bros. coffee and other coffee in CA. The day after my return to NY (March 2, 2013) I had pain that seemed like indigestion. Therefore, I purchased this tea to help me get off of coffee and to aid my digestion. First, I tried taking another (usually very helpful and well-known name brand) product several times as prescribed but, this time, it did not work! The Dandelion Root tea worked wonders, although not instantly (not the very first cup), and the pain dissolved completely!! Drinking the tea along with and/or after meals has proven to be very helpful to my digestive system. Also, I have been able to drink this tea with and without a sweetener. I do not experience any funny/unusual smells or tastes from this tea as some others have. At the same time, I recognize that everyone has a different sense of smell and taste. I signed on to GNC to purchase more boxes of this tea and to try some of the other GNC teas. Prior to drinking the Dandelion Root tea, I generally purchased Aloe Vera or Vitamin E oil products from this company. Now, along with the DR tea, I am purchasing more GNC teas and other products, especially as (a person in the 50-year old age range) I seek to have better health. And, I have already suggested the DR tea and given some bags of it to a family member who has suffered with digestion problems after treatment for cancer of the esophagus. To everyone: I recommend trying the tea with or after meals or anytime of the day. So far, I have been drinking this tea everyday, sometimes sipping on a cup of it throughout the day. As another person mentioned in their post, maybe this is TMI but, I have also had little to no gas than what I was experiencing at the beginning of and after my travels between NY and CA. I could be wrong, even so, I also attribute this benefit to the DR tea.

Although this tea does have a strong flavor and can be bitter, if it's sweetened I find no problem with the strength or bitterness at all. I enjoy and prefer the flavor to many other herbal teas.

Comments about Traditional Medicinals® Organic Roasted Dandelion Root Herbal Tea:

After reading all the posted comments, I was truly expecting an awful tasting tea. The aroma from the bag seemed to confirm others' thoughts. Amazingly, it was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am a tea drinker and I never add sweetener to my tea. I do agree that it has a unique taste among teas that I have sampled, but for the health benefits, it is a winner.

I bought this tea for the purpose of a cleansing drink, luckily I mix it with other ingredients because if I didn't I would want to return it. I like tea but am not a tea enthusiast and read that this was bitter but I was in for a surprise. Alone it is disgusting, even with honey or sugar. It even smells gross. If you plan to buy this just for the taste, make sure you know what it tastes like first.

Comments about Traditional Medicinals® Organic Roasted Dandelion Root Herbal Tea:

This is a tonic tea used to aid digestion. It helps with liver function, urine flow, stomach/digestion. This tea, along with Milk Thistle and 2 Tb/day Lemon Juice (taken at different times, of course) were instrumental in lowering my liver enzymes from the 400's back to normal, in 5 weeks. Sweeten with Stevia if you cannot stand the strong flavor. Don't drink too close to bedtime unless you want to pee all night!
