Fast Facts on "Fat Burners"
Fast Facts on "Fat Burners"
Fat burners encourage the body to use stored fat for energy, decrease the rate at which excess calories are turned into body fat, or enhance metabolismWhile there isn't a standard definition for the phrase "fat burner," diet experts generally agree these are substances that
- encourage the body to use stored fat for energy,
- decrease the rate at which excess calories are turned into body fat, or
- enhance metabolism-the rate at which the body burns calories.
Products or foods that suppress appetite or promote a feeling of fullness, such as fiber, are not true fat burners, though they may be labeled that way, and still may be useful aids to weight loss.
Tried and true
Several dietary supplements and natural substances have been studied for their fat-burning effects, including:
Green tea. Research has shown green tea supplements can promote modest weight loss-a few pounds in short-term studies of up to 12 weeks, when compared to placebo-and may help prevent weight regain. Catechins, one component of green tea, appear to have a variety of fat-burning effects, including increasing metabolism and the use of fat for fuel, and decreasing the rate at which body fat is created and stored. Green tea has a good track record of safe use.
Capsaicin. Capsaicin is the spicy-hot component of red chili peppers, and one randomized trial found that people lost twice the weight taking capsaicin compared with a placebo, over a 12-week period. The total effect was small, however: the capsaicin group lost about 2 pounds compared to a 1-pound loss in the placebo group. Capsaicin appears to increase metabolism, and supplements of up to 6 grams of capsaicin per day are considered safe and are well tolerated by most people.
L-carnitine. Our bodies make and use L-carnitine to transport fat within cells, so that the fat can be burned for energy. Studies support that L-carnitine supplements improve fat burning in the body, but clinical trials have yet to show a weight-loss benefit in obese people. L-carnitine may be useful for improving athletic performance, however, and up to 3 grams per day is considered safe.
New kids on the block
Raspberry ketones. When given to mice on a high-fat, high-calorie diet, raspberry ketones protected against excess weight gain and fat accumulation in the liver. Mice aren't people, however, so keep an eye out for future research, which should clarify what kind of effects raspberry ketones may have for weight-loss in people.
Bitter orange (Citrus aurantium). This product became more popular after the 2004 FDA ban on ephedra supplements. Bitter orange has effects similar to ephedra, including increasing metabolism, blood pressure, and heart rate, which can translate into weight loss. While bitter orange appears to be safe for short-term use-weeks, not months-in healthy adults, it also may have similar adverse effects as ephedra, so use it with caution if you have underlying health issues, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes.
Thermogenics. Thermogenics refers to a broad category of substances that cause the body to produce heat through increased metabolism. Examples include fucoxanthin, a supplement derived from brown seaweed, and 7-KETO DHEA, a manufactured hormone that is related to, though not the same as, the naturally occurring human hormone DHEA. Even caffeine and green tea are considered to have some thermogenic action in the body. As with many fat-burning supplements, thermogenics can be safe for short-term use in healthy adults. However, if you have underlying health issues, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes, you may need to steer clear of thermogenic weight-loss products.
Other ways to fight the fat
Fat burners may be worth a try, but if you have a pre-existing medical issue, such as diabetes, high cholesterol, kidney or liver disease, high blood pressure, or heart disease, check with your doctor before trying these products. And regardless of whether or not you add a fat burner to your weight management plan, there are many other steps you can take to kick start your metabolism and nudge the number on the scale in the desired direction.
Water. You may have heard it before, but it bears repeating: staying well hydrated can help with fat loss. Aim for 64 ounces of water per day and you'll likely feel better and may be less tempted to snack mindlessly. Other noncaloric options such as hot or iced tea or sparkling water count too.
Fiber. Fiber-from food and supplements-may be helpful to weight-loss efforts. Fiber will fill you up and has other health benefits too, such as lowering cholesterol. Focus on fiber-rich foods, such as whole grains and raw vegetables and fruit, and slowly add a fiber supplement, such as psyllium or inulin-a type of fiber which comes from chicory root-if desired. Don't forget the water, which your body needs to process the extra roughage.
Effective exercise. High-intensity interval training can burn lots of calories quickly. This kind of exercise involves going all out-so you're breathing hard enough that talking is difficult-for a short time, such as 30 to 60 seconds, followed by a minute or two of lower-intensity activity to recover. The cycle is repeated up to 10 times for a 20-minute workout. Alternate these workouts with regular physical activity throughout the week, and as your fitness improves, you can increase the high-intensity portion of the workout, and decrease the active rest period. If you aren't exercising regularly already, talk to your doctor before starting a high-intensity interval training workout plan.

Comments about USP LABS 1010125 USP Labs Recreate™:
I bought this product for my son. He was not able to buy it at our local GNC. Recreate has helped him lose over 160 lbs in a year with no side effects. He takes 2 with breakfast & 2 with dinner & it helps curb his hunger. The price is good for the amount of pills but our local GNC says that they were longer carrying it because of the FDA & a ingredient in the pill. GREAT PRODUCT!

Comments about USP LABS 1010125 USP Labs Recreate™:
I am on week 3 of Recreate, and I am averaging 4 pounds lost per week. To start off, I found myself weighing 200 pounds for the first time at the age of 31. I was eating fried food daily and hardly exercising. My target weight is 180. I started off with 2 pills per day and had no negative effects, but did give me more energy. Within 3 days I was on 4 per day. Recreate does help control the cravings for food, and I found myself snacking less. The pill does not do all the hard work for you though, I also began counting calories using an app on my smart phone, and began to exercise more and track my progress.
After no more fried food, cola, or snacking, I am limiting myself to 1500 calories per day as well as doing a small workout at home at night. On the weekends I hit it hard, snowboarding, X-Country Skiing, and extreme snowmobiling. After 2 weeks, I have lost 8 pounds. Is it due to Recreate, eating right, or more exercise? I don't know, but I do like having more energy throughout the day. I am even in a better mood at work. Only down side, I love coffee but can no longer drink it without getting jitters, so I have to put that on hold for now.Pros

Comments about USP LABS 1010125 USP Labs Recreate™:
I did a 3 month regiment of Recreate from August through November of 2011. I started taking 1 pill in the morning at 7:30am with breakfast and 1 pill in the afternoon at 2:00pm with a protein shake. I built up to 2 pills in the morning and 2 pills in the afternoon (maximum dose) over the first 2 weeks after not experiencing any side effects.
I chose Recreate over other fat burners because it is low stim and 4 pills has as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. I didn't experience any jitters, crashes, or upset stomach while taking this on a full or empty stomach. However, if you take it on an empty stomach and burp after the pill has had a chance to break up in your stomach, it tastes disgusting. The pill itself is largely flavorless, but when broken apart will taste putrid.
I do a full body workout 3x per week. I started at 6'3" 225 pounds with 20% body fat and now weigh 220 pounds with 17% body fat. In ~12 weeks I lost ~8 pounds of fat, gained ~5 pounds of muscle, and took about two inches off my waist (37 to a 35). This was during a period where I didn't count calories, but ate fairly healthy (no junk/fast food) and had a sedentary office job.
THIS IS NOT A MIRACLE PILL. If you are looking to drop non-water weight dangerously fast (more than 2 pounds/week) then you need to keep looking. Prior to using Recreate, I always over-ate. Recreate suppresses your appetite and makes it much easier to stop eating when you're full--even when there is food left on your plate. I found myself eating smaller portions. I've always eaten healthy food--just too much of it. Recreate has also been "training wheels" for me to learn what portion sizes I should be eating.
The thermogenic feeling is great. I find myself warm during the day and I sweat like a pig at the gym. The energy you feel offsets and additional fatigue from the thermogenic effect. I have a very mentally involved job and have found myself more focused, more energetic, and I now jump out of bed to start my day in the morning.
I took a break from Recreate in December of 2011 and noticed a gradual decline in my energy levels, ability to focus, and felt more lethargic. The holiday food didn't help either. I have started another round of Recreate on January 1 for the new year. The only warning I have is to not start with 4 pills/day. I thought that since my body has handled 4 pills/day previously that I could jump right in. I was able to pinpoint the exact moment the pills kicked in after taking 1 month off and taking 2 pills in the morning--it only took about 15 minutes. I felt like I could leap tall buildings in one bound. I had so much energy I felt like running a marathon for fun. However, after 48 hours I leveled out and am back to normal. In the future, I will start with morning/afternoon doses of 1/1, 1/2, and then 2/2 over a 1-2 week period.
Additionally, I take a melatonin supplement before going to bed. Recreate contains caffeine and I've never had issues falling asleep, but melatonin helps with uninterrupted sleep (key for reaching REM sleep phase) and is partially responsible for being able to jump out of bed with loads of energy in the morning.
My daily schedule (with 8-5 office job):
7:30a - Light breakfast + 2 Recreate + Multivitamin + Vitamin D
11:00a - Lunch
2:00p - Isopure Protein Shake (contains multivitamin) + 2 Recreate
4:30p - Snack (usually cashews or protein bar)
5:30p - Gym for 1.5 hours (3x/week on MWF)
7:30p - Dinner
10:00p - Sleep/Melatonin supplement
Even if I wasn't trying to burn fat, I would highly recommend Recreate for boosting energy as it works better than any 5 hour energy/Red Bull/etc that you can buy. 4 pills costs about $1.50/day and you'll get 16 hours of healthy energy and you're productivity will sky rocket.Pros

Comments about USP LABS 1010125 USP Labs Recreate™:
Hey i took the recreate after i heard great feedback from my sister. So, i started to take it for abt week, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon, for abt 3 days and then increased the dosage to 1 morning, 2 afternoon. During that time, i felt more energy, and some reason stopped drinking coffee. which i loved. No more Starbucks. I cant stand coffee now. not sure what it was, but it made me hate it. Any within the week i started to feel pain in my stomach and then pain where it was constant all day and night. until today i still have it, and it feels like fire in my stomach. Is still feel pain, i never had pain that lasted so long, and until today still there. i had some pain bf, but after taking it seems like it got worst. so, i decided to stop taking it and returned the product.
I don't know if some of ingredients in the bottle triggered to my pain, any one else felt pain? i wish their is magic pill i can take, seems like the older im getting the fatter i am.:( i know the old fashion way is the best. hope this helps.Pros

Comments about USP LABS 1010125 USP Labs Recreate™:
Ok so some people say its the best thing ever and some say its worthless. I say it definatly gives me energy. I work overnights. I take 1 pill when i wake up which is about 2 hours before my sift starts. I dont even drink coffee anymore. I feel awake, alwert, and energized. I take another one about 12-1am to get me through the rest of my sift and have no trouble at all going to sleep as soon as i get home at 8am. No jitters! it also helped me with my appetite. i still want to eat and have cravings, but those thoughts are on the back burner now. Fat loss yea ive had some but i think eating less and having more energy helped to do most of that.

I take 2 recreate twice a day. There was a time when I stopped taking it and started to gain back weight I had previously lost. This product does what it says and doesn't give me the jittery feeling other products have. I recommend it whole-heartedly!
