- Health Notes
-
Vitamin D
Vitamin D- Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
- Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
- For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.
Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.
For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

(Vitamin A)Refer to label instructions The fat-soluble vitamin D's most important role is maintaining blood levels of calcium, which it accomplishes by increasing absorption of calcium from food and reducing urinary calcium loss. Both effects keep calcium in the body and therefore spare the calcium that is stored in bones. When necessary, vitamin D transfers calcium from the bone into the bloodstream, which does not benefit bones. Although the overall effect of vitamin D on the bones is complicated, some vitamin D is necessary for healthy bones and teeth.
When "D" is used without a subscript it refers to either D2 or D3, the two primary forms used as supplements.

Take it everyday. I like it so much better than the gel pills, and the tastes not that bad for fish oil while it provides great vitamins and Omega 3 benefits.
I have it with my breakfast or dinner if I forget, and I'm 25 and have been taking cod liver oil since elementary school.Pros

Comments about Nordic Naturals - Artic - D Cod Liver Oil:
My family (parents & 3 kids (2 are Autistic)) is using this product mainly for my children to improve their attention span. I've seen some improvement in the kids ability to develop new words. We've been using it for 60days now and I am monitoring their improvement. It does not taste well even with the lemon. My 6 year old believes I am giving her grease.
