Description
Dietary Supplement
  • 5000mg of Micronized BCAA to Enhance Anabolism
  • 3:1:1 Ratio of L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine and L-Valine
  • Fastest Delivery of Rapid Absorbing BCAA
Properformance RapidDrive BCAA 5000 features our most advanced RapidDrive Amino Acid Technology. These Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) have been pulverized, or "micronized," from large molecules into smaller particles that are easier to absorb and deliver fast fuel for powerful performance. Now you can fully power your muscles to new levels for optimum performance.

BCAA-leucine, isoleucine and valine- are critically important for stimulating muscle protein synthesis, reducing protein breakdown and preserving mucle glycogen stores. The body uses these essential amino acids as fuel during exercise.

Using Pro Performance RapidDrive BCAA 5000 can help maintain and rapidly replenish BCAA stores. Each serving supplies 5000mg of pure BCAA and mixes easily in any beverage or sports drink.

GNC's Product Development Scientists were challenged to create an advanced delivery form of amino acid supplements, a critical sports nutrition component that can be used in the regimen of top athletes. The result of these research efforts led to the creation of the RapidDrive Amino Series, a core group of superior and fast-absorbing amino acids for rapid muscle fueling results. This unique technology is much more advanced compared to regular amino acids. Because our team is dedicated to continually improving sports nutrition products, the Pro Performance RapidDrive Amino Series helps you, the athletes, get fast fuel for your muscles.

Health Notes

Arginine

Arginine
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

This supplement has been used in connection with the following health conditions:

Used for AmountWhy
Angina
2 to 3 grams three times per day2 stars[2 stars] In one study, taking arginine improved the ability of angina sufferers to exercise. Detailed studies have proven that arginine works by stimulating blood vessel dilation.
Congestive Heart Failure
5.6 to 15 grams per day with a doctor's supervision 2 stars[2 stars] The body needs arginine to make nitric oxide, which increases blood flow. This process is impaired in people with CHF. It also has been shown to improve kidney function in people with CHF.
Erectile Dysfunction
1,670 to 2,800 mg daily2 stars[2 stars] Blood vessels need arginine to dilate and form an erection. Supplementing with arginine has been shown to help men with erectile dysfunction in some studies.
HIV and AIDS Support and Preservation of Lean Body Mass

(Glutamine, HMB)
1.5 grams of HMB, 7 grams of L-glutamine, and 7 grams of L-arginine twice per day2 stars[2 stars] The combination of glutamine, arginine, and HMB may prevent loss of lean body mass in people with AIDS-associated wasting.
Male Infertility
4 grams daily2 stars[2 stars] The amino acid arginine is needed to produce sperm. Research shows that several months of L-arginine supplementation increases sperm count, quality, and fertility.
Pre- and Post-Surgery Health
12.5 to 18.75 grams daily before and after surgery2 stars[2 stars] The amino acid arginine has a role in immune function, infection prevention, and tissue repair after injury, including surgery.
Sickle Cell Anemia and Pulmonary Hypertension
100 mg per 2.2 lbs (1 kg) of body weight, three times per dayas L-Arginine2 stars[2 stars] People with pulmonary hypertension (a life-threatening complication of sickle cell anemia) who received L-arginine had significant improvement in one study.
Athletic Performance and Body Composition and Strength
Refer to label instructions 1 star[1 star] At very high intakes, the amino acid arginine has increased growth hormone levels, which stimulate muscle growth. Trials combining weight training with arginine and ornithine showed decreases in body fat and increases in total strength and lean body mass.
Female Infertility and In Vitro Fertilization
Refer to label instructions 1 star[1 star] Supplementing with L-arginine has been shown to improve fertility in women with a history of failed attempts at in vitro fertilization.
Gastritis
Refer to label instructions 1 star[1 star] The amino acid arginine may both protect the stomach and increase its blood flow.
Hypertension
Refer to label instructions 1 star[1 star] The amino acid arginine is needed by the body to make nitric oxide, a substance that allows blood vessels to dilate, thus reducing blood pressure. Arginine given orally and intravenously has been reported to help reduce blood pressure.
Wound Healing
Refer to label instructions 1 star[1 star] Arginine appears to improve wound healing by increasing protein synthesis.

The amino acid arginine has several roles in the body, such as assisting in wound healing, helping remove excess ammonia from the body, stimulating immune function, and promoting secretion of several hormones, including glucagon, insulin, and growth hormone.

I bought this "un-flavored" thinking I would mix it with a shake and was shocked the first time I had it. The taste is very strong/ bitter and made me gag even when mixed with a shake or fruit in the blender. Also the powder is very fine/ talc like and it puffs all over each time you open & close the container. I will suffer through the rest of the container since it cant be returned but will buy in tablet form or another brand next time. It does work well for recovery but the down sides out-weigh the pros.

      Comments about GNC Pro Performance® RapidDrive™ BCAA 5000 - 50 Servings:

When I bought this product I expected a neutral flavored powder, you know something that tasted like nothing. That was my idea of non-flavored. The taste was a shocker. I tried to pre workout mixed with milk and a berry flavored enzyme/energy mix. That didn't even come close to covering up the taste. Most of the time I mixed the product with Muscle Milk Vanilla or Strawberry in my post work out shakes. Muscle Milk tastes really good and Rapid Drive even made it taste bearably bad. I ordered the fruit punch so I can drink Rapid Drive by itself pre-workout. Leucine is a precursor of HMB which has been shown to increase muscle mass in pigs. I just drink it most of the time with the pretense that it's good for me or will help achieve my goals.

Like other users have said do yourself a favor and try the fruit punch version. I felt queezy every time I tried to take it. It is comparable to ground up chalk and is very overpowering no matter what I've mixed it with so far. Other than that, great product.

Unflavored is not...unflavored. It tastes like youre chewing advil or something. I've found it somewhat tolerable when mixed with chocolate protein and chocolate syrup. (not exactly an ideal thing to add when dieting but it helps you choke it down) When added to just the protein the "unflavored" flavor of it is still almost too overpowering.

BCAA's don't mix well at all no matter what brand you get and its not good unflavored, fact. I never understood people busting their (fill i the blank) trying to mix them. You take the scoop throw it in ur mouth swish it down with water and repeat, simple as that.
