Description
THE BIGGER PICTURE OF HYDROLYZED WHEY PROTEINS
PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® is the fastest, purest, most advanced whey protein we've ever developed. In a word: excellence. By hydrolyzing the protein in this premium formula we've created our fastest-acting whey protein yet. Hydrolyzing breaks larger proteins down into smaller pieces that are able to get into your system rapidly, enabling your muscles to start rebuilding quickly. For added effectiveness we've also enhanced it with digestive enzymes and micronized branched chain amino acids (BCAAs). PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® is ultra-pure too. That's because it's made with hydrolyzed whey protein isolates. So, there's no excess fat, cholesterol, or lactose to slow down your progress either.

SMALLER PIECES = BIGGER RESULTS
  • PURIFIED
Excess moisture, fat, cholesterol, lactose, and other materials are removed so that ultra-pure protein remains.
  • HYDROLYZED
  • Once the purest whey proteins have been isolated, they are broken down, or hydrolyzed, into smaller pieces for faster delivery.
  • ENHANCEDFinally, PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® is enhanced with digestive enzymes and micronized free-form BCAAs for added effectiveness.BEYOND THE BASICS
  • Made with ADVANCED HYDROLYZED WHEY Protein Isolates for FASTER DELIVERY.
  • 30 grams of ULTRA-PURE PROTEIN.
  • Nearly 9 grams of Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine (BCAAs) per scoop.
  • NO LACTOSE or CHOLESTEROL.
  • Contains DIGESTIVE ENZYMES for enhanced utilization.
  • INSTANTIZED to mix easily with a spoon.

    Supplement Facts

PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® is INSTANTIZED, so it always mixes up easily and completely. Simply add 1 scoop of PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® to a blender, shaker cup, or glass filled with 12 ounces of cold water, milk, or juice and blend, shake, or stir for 20-30 seconds or until powder is dissolved.TIP: Adjust the intensity of your PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® shake by varying the amount of liquid you use to prepare it. For a slightly thicker consistency with bolder flavor, mix each scoop with 10 ounces of water. For a milder tasting less sweet shake, use 14-16 ounces of liquid per scoop.

STACK YOUR SHAKE: By adding dietary supplements including creatine, BCAA, and carbohydrate powders you can make PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® an even more powerful recovery product.TIP: Use faster-acting PLATINUM HYDROWHEY® during the day and more slowly digested GOLD STANDARD 100% CASEIN™ at night for around-the-clock amino acid coverage.

SUGGESTED USE: Consume approximately 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day through a combination of high protein foods and protein supplements. For best results consume your daily protein allotment over several meals spread evenly throughout the day.

    Health Notes

    Whey Protein

    Whey Protein
This nutrient has been used in connection with the following health goals
    • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
    • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
    • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

    Athletic Performance
Dose: 20 grams daily up to 1.2 grams of per 2.2 of pounds body weight per day

Animal studies suggest that whey protein can increase gains in lean body mass resulting from exercise.1 A controlled trial found that six weeks of strength training while taking 1.2 grams of whey protein per 2.2 of pounds body weight per day resulted in greater gains in lean body mass, but improved only one out of four strength tests.2 Another controlled study found that people taking 20 grams per day of whey protein for three months performed better on a test of short-term intense cycling exercise than people taking a similar amount of milk protein (casein).3 However, a double-blind trial found that men taking 1.5 grams per 2.2 lbs of body weight per day of predigested whey protein for 12 weeks along with a strength training exercise program gained only half as much lean body mass and had significantly smaller increases in strength compared with men using a similar amount of predigested casein along with strength training.4 A controlled study of HIV-infected women found that adding whey protein to strength training exercise was no more effective than exercise alone for increasing strength or improving body composition.5

Some whey proteins may reduce bone loss.1 Milk basic protein (MBP) is a mixture of some of the proteins found in whey protein. A preliminary trial found that 300 mg per day of MBP improved blood measures of bone metabolism in men, suggesting more bone formation was occurring than bone loss.2 A double-blind trial found that women taking 40 mg per day of MBP for six months had greater gains in bone density compared with those taking a placebo.3 No osteoporosis-related research has been done using complete whey protein mixtures.

    Obesity
    Dose: Refer to label instructions

Whey protein may aid weight loss due to its effect on appetite. In a preliminary study, people were given 48 grams of either whey protein or milk protein (casein). Whey consumption resulted in more hunger satisfaction and reduced the amount of food eaten 90 minutes later compared with casein consumption.1 However, a double-blind study found that men taking 1.5 grams per 2.2 lbs body weight per day of whey protein for 12 weeks along with a low-calorie diet and a strength training exercise program lost the same amount of weight and body fat as did a control group that followed a similar program, but took a casein supplement instead of whey protein.2

Whey protein is a mixture of some of the proteins naturally found in milk. The major proteins found in whey protein include beta-lactoglobulin and alpha-lactalbumin. Whey protein has one of the highest protein digestibility-corrected amino acid scores (PDCAAS; a measure of protein bioavailability) and is more rapidly digested than other proteins, such as casein (another milk protein). 1

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Platinum Hydro Whey® - Velocity Vanilla:

I've read a lot of good things about this product but I guess for me, it just doesn't work. My recovery time lasts about three to four days which is way more than when I drank Gold Standard. It doesn't even taste good at all with water or milk, it's kind of bitter in a way. Also, it's way to specific to drink right after workouts for fast absorption but on my off days, I feel like it would be pointless.

I use Platinum Hydro Whey on a daily basis before and after my daily workout. I find the taste to be excellent in concert with it giving me the results that I need. Platinum Hydro Whey gives me the endurance to push myself a little further.
At times depending on where and what part of the month I purchase my Platinum Hydro Whey it can be at an affordable price or a little bit too pricey. In the end Platinum Hydro Whey is worth every cent in the long run. I would not buy another other product to substitute Platinum Hydro Whey.

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Platinum Hydro Whey® - Velocity Vanilla:

I'm a college student who works out twice a week to the degree to which it doesn't bother my study. I take Hydro Whey every day, specifically a little less than half a spoon per meal and 1 and a half spoons after a meal right after a workout. Hydro Whey is a WPI/WPH type of protein, which is clearly the best protein available because WPI/WPH is absorbed right away into your body system to grow muscles much more effectively. This product tastes great and is mixed very well, and I haven't had any problem with digesting this product.
The only part I don't like about this product is the price. ON GNC Website, it's less than $6o, dozens of dollars off the regular price, but many people would feel that this would still be expensive. Other than that, this product is impeccable as whey protein.

Like this product. Work out daily and finds this to be a good source of proteins. I mix it with skim milk, or add a scoop to my oatmeal, or even to a bowl of cereals. Add proteins without fat or carbohydrates. Little pricey like everything else at GNC.

Use this after running and lifting. Like the BCAA's in it to help with recovery. Tastes great, sometimes even dump some yogurt in it to add a little more, which also tastes good. I have noticed some leaning out and don't seem to be as sore after my workouts, Overall Its a must for "feeding the machine" after intense workouts. Doesn't upset my stomach. Have to catch it on sale or during Gold Card Week as its a little pricey.

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Platinum Hydro Whey® - Velocity Vanilla:

Have used for two (2) weeks now and already seeing results... Use pre-workout... Great muscle building and recovery.. Great taste.. I mix Vanilla with Gatorade Orange.. Tastes exactly like those Orange Dreamsicles from the past: orange sorbet and vanilla ice cream.
