Health Notes

Garlic

Garlic
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Comments about GNC HERBAL PLUS STANDARDIZED GNC Odorless Garlic 500:

The smell is not that strong, it's garlic so you have to expect it to smell a little bit. I don't burp that much with this at all, just make sure you take it with some food or something like yogurt to coat your stomach. Otherwise it's pretty good. I take vitamins frequently so I do believe this will work.
      I definitely recommend it.

Comments about GNC HERBAL PLUS STANDARDIZED GNC Odorless Garlic 500:

I used this product for a fairly serious tooth/nasal infection, because I had no access to antibiotics. For those who know, the pain was horrific - at times, it was so awful that I was literally paralyzed with pain and unable to move. Unfortunately, I'm a student with no dental insurance, so I was on my own.

I started using these, at 200mg (4 capsules) with my lunch and 200mg with my dinner and I saw immediate results. It took only a week before the infection and the pain was completely gone. Now, whoever decided to advertise these as "odorless" needs to get their butt kicked, because for nearly the entire week, my family complained about the odor. I found that taking two showers a day, using LOTS of deodorant spray and using STRONG breath mints helped out a lot...but to be completely honest, with the kind of pain and lack of sleep that I was dealing with, I couldn't have cared LESS about anybody's complaining ;)

Bottom line: these work! I'm not sure if they did anything for my cholesterol, but they worked WONDERS for my tooth infection. For anyone who is looking for an alternative to prescription antibiotics, I would highly recommend this product. But prepare for some serious garlic odor, and FORGET about going to the gym (garlic sweat...not cool). Otherwise, great product and great results!!

I rarely get garlic burps with this. All the other garlic products I have used turn me into a garlic burping machine.

Comments about GNC HERBAL PLUS STANDARDIZED GNC Odorless Garlic 500:

When I opened the container the odor of garlic was quite pungent, I assumed that it due to freshness and potentcy. After taking them for about a week I could not tolerate the taste, belching and smell it produce. GNC needs to try again with this one.

This product smells even though it says it odorless. Tastes horrible. Don't take on an empty/small meal stomach because it will cause discomfort. Overall i would suggest just finding another product that offers garlic as an additional supplement, not as a main.
