Black Cohosh
Black Cohosh- Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
- Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
- For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.
Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.
For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

Black cohosh is a shrub-like plant native to the eastern deciduous forests of North America, ranging from southern Ontario to Georgia, north to Wisconsin and west to Arkansas. The dried root and rhizome are used medicinally.1 When harvested from the wild, the root is black in color. Cohosh, an Algonquin Indian word meaning "rough," refers to the plants gnarly root structure.2

Comments about NATURES WAY Nature's Way® Black Cohosh Root:
I had a hysterectomy in 2007 and opted not to go on a hormonal treatment. I searched and searched for something natural that would help with the hot flashes. I stumbled upon this and have never looked back! I take 2 a day and my hot flashes have subsided quite a bit. I found the more I took, the less I noticed my hot flashes. Be careful though because it is also a natural laxative! Like I said, it's a wonder root!!!

Comments about NATURES WAY Nature's Way® Black Cohosh Root:
This product works pretty well if you take it three times a day. It does not completely get rid of hot flashes, but I think it decreases the number of times throughout the day and intensity of them. My biggest problem is remembering to take them 3xs a day.

Comments about NATURES WAY Nature's Way® Black Cohosh Root:
Works great for my shaky leg syndrome. I take 2 every night before I go to bed. When I took it in the morning, it made me nausious and dizzy but after a meal and before bed at night, works great.
