It is considered an inhibitory neurotransmitter, which means it regulates brain and nerve cell activity by inhibiting the number of neurons firing in the brain. GABA is referred to as the Brain's natural calming agent". By inhibiting over-stimulation of the brain, GABA may help promote relaxation and ease nervous tension. I used to take 5HTP for anxiety and mild depression. Because of good reviews, I wanted to give GABA a try, but unfortunately it was not what I expected. I do not feel more relaxed, nor less depressed.

My mind is noticably calmer when I take GABA. I am ADD and my mind is usually all over the place at the speed of light. I take one capsule twice a day and my mind is much calmer and it is easier to think and make sense of things. I don't get overwhelmed as easy.
