The Bigger Picture of Whey

Whey protein isolates are the purest form of whey protein that exists. Hydrowhey consists of proteins that are strategically broken down (hydrolyzed) into smaller pieces called peptides for faster utilization by the body. both are costly to use, but whey protein isolates and hydrowhey hydrolyzed whey peptides are the best whey proteins that money can buy. That's why they're the first few ingredients you read on the Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey label. By using whey protein isolates and Hydrowhey as a primary ingredients, we're able to pack 24 grams of the fastest, muscle-building protein into every serving with a lot less of the fat, cholesterol, lactose, and other stuff you can do without. Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey is also free of artificial flavors and sweeteners. There's no doubt that this is the standard by which all other whey proteins are measured.
The Advanced Gold Standard Whey Protein Blend:
Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey is made of an exclusive blend of:
  • Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolates
  • Ion-Exchange Whey Protein Isolates
  • Ultrafiltered Whey Protein Concentrate
  • Hydrowhey Hydrolyzed Whey Peptides

Spoon Stirred: Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey is INSTANTIZED. That means if you forgot your shaker cup or dont have time to get out the blender, just add one rounded scoop of Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey to a glass filled with 6-8 oz. of water or your favorite beverage. Then mix it up with a spoon. Stir for about 30 seconds or until powder is completely dissolved. Tip: Adjust the intensity of your Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey by varying the amount of liquid that you use to prepare it. For a bolder flavor with slightly more body and sweetness, mix each scoop with 4-6 oz. of water, milk, or your favorite beverage. For a milder tasting, less sweet shake, use 8-10 oz. of liquid per scoop.

Whey Protein for Sports & Fitness

Whey Protein

Why Do Athletes Use It?*

Some athletes say that whey protein serves as another protein choice in their diets.

What Do the Advocates Say?*

Protein is necessary for rebuilding tissue-this is especially important for bodybuilders. All types of protein provide the body with amino acids. From an athletic point of view, whey is just another type of protein. Choosing whey protein over other types of protein simply adds variety to the protein choices available.

Whey is a common ingredient in many meal replacements, which are designed to provide a large amount of nutrients in a minimal amount of calories.

How Much Is Usually Taken by Athletes?

Animal studies suggest that whey protein can increase gains in lean body mass resulting from exercise.1 A controlled trial found that six weeks of strength training while taking 1.2 grams of whey protein per 2.2 of pounds body weight per day resulted in greater gains in lean body mass, but improved only one out of four strength tests.2 Another controlled study found that people taking 20 grams per day of whey protein for three months performed better on a test of short-term intense cycling exercise than people taking a similar amount of milk protein (casein).3 However, a double-blind trial found that men taking 1.5 grams per 2.2 lbs of body weight per day of predigested whey protein for 12 weeks along with a strength-training exercise program gained only half as much lean body mass and had significantly smaller increases in strength compared with men using a similar amount of predigested casein along with strength training.4 A controlled study of HIV-infected women found that adding whey protein to strength-training exercise was no more effective than exercise alone for increasing strength or improving body composition.5

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey - Chocolate:

Tastes excellent. Whey is great post workout. You can even use it for breakfast. Read your labels and you'll know that this product does not have all the fillers that some shake powders have. Do not get caught up in catchy gimics and commercials. People on shake diets are losing weight because they are watching what they eat and exercising. You can do that with just whey and mixing in a hemp protein shake somewhere in your day.

I use this product when I wake up, before I go to sleep, and before/after work out. One of the great things about this product is the lack of chemicals. that I do like a lot. The only issues I have is that the taste is not very good, (probably because the lack of chemicals) and the lack of thickness. other than that, I like have the feeling that I am not having to put chemicals in my body

I am used to taking optimum 100% gold whey, bought this one after seeing the green font which read "natural".. Well, normally im not too fussy about the taste when it comes to protein blends but this is downright awful.. tastes like mud, no matter how think a shake u make..

its value for money thats alrite but for strength and gaining its just like any other protein powder minus the taste..
          nothing special about it

We usually use the regular chocolate flavor of this brand and when I saw this was a "natural" alternative I figured how different could it be. Well, this was flat out gross. The consistency was off, the flavor was awful and I returned it to the store and exchanged it for the regular kind. Two thumbs down...
