The Bigger Picture of Whey

Whey protein isolates are the purest form of whey protein that exists. Hydrowhey consists of proteins that are strategically broken down (hydrolyzed) into smaller pieces called peptides for faster utilization by the body. both are costly to use, but whey protein isolates and hydrowhey hydrolyzed whey peptides are the best whey proteins that money can buy. That's why they're the first few ingredients you read on the Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey label. By using whey protein isolates and Hydrowhey as a primary ingredients, we're able to pack 24 grams of the fastest, muscle-building protein into every serving with a lot less of the fat, cholesterol, lactose, and other stuff you can do without. Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey is also free of artificial flavors and sweeteners. There's no doubt that this is the standard by which all other whey proteins are measured.
The Advanced Gold Standard Whey Protein Blend:
Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey is made of an exclusive blend of:
  • Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolates
  • Ion-Exchange Whey Protein Isolates

Health Notes

Whey Protein

Whey Protein
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

I am used to taking optimum 100% gold whey, bought this one after seeing the green font which read "natural".. Well, normally im not too fussy about the taste when it comes to protein blends but this is downright awful.. tastes like mud, no matter how think a shake u make..

its value for money thats alrite but for strength and gaining its just like any other protein powder minus the taste..

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey - Chocolate:

We usually use the regular chocolate flavor of this brand and when I saw this was a "natural" alternative I figured how different could it be. Well, this was flat out gross. The consistency was off, the flavor was awful and I returned it to the store and exchanged it for the regular kind. Two thumbs down...

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey - Chocolate:

First, a word on who I am and why I use this product: I'm 25. I work out (a good paced warm-up mile and pretty heavy lifting for my body weight) 4 days a week. I've been lifting regularly for ~12 years and exercise is a lifestyle for me. I take my work outs seriously and expect to see results.

OK, now that i've qualified myself, I drink this product, stirred into milk, with breakfast every morning, lift or no lift, and once more after my work outs. I typically stir in chocolate syrup when I drink it post work out because, as the previous poster said, there's not enough carbs in this to recover quickly without it.

What I like about this product is that it's natural and thus doesn't have all the extra garbage other proteins might contain. Some proteins contain ingredients that make me jittery and anxious (which I see no advantage to and is probably unhealthy in the long run). This protein does not contain those ingredients. This product is great for lifters who want the nutritional support with no addatives (like myself).

Also, the drink tastes great and mixes well (especially with the chocolate syrup added).

Final note, I also take the GNC Mega Men Powered Strength Vitapak and drink the Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer.

Comments about Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Natural 100% Whey - Chocolate:

I've been using this product for YEARS. Since I was a college gym rat back in 2003-2006, and now as an avid CrossFit athlete (who dabbles in powerlifting and weightlifting). The stuff mixes very well, tastes great, and has one of the higher protein concentrations out there. It also has a short ingredients list - which means less garbage. Keep in mind, this is purely a protein source, and not a true "post-workout", as there are no carbs. I typically mix it with chocolate milk after strenuous workouts and feel great within minutes.
