My cat refused to eat any of the GNC cat products and when I read the label compared to other pet products that Veterinaries approve of the GNC product had large amounts of manganese and other elements that didn't coincide with pet products that have been on the market and worked for years. The manganese was 145mg, compared to .0158% in similar products produced by companies that have worked in the pet industry for years.
I won't buy GNC products for my pets again.

My 12 year old cat started having kidney trouble and stopped eating almost completely. I started giving him this supplement to get him to, at the very least, stop losing weight. After he finished the first tube I saw a great improvement in his coat and his appetite. Now I can barely get him to stop eating and his energy level is back to the way it was 5 years ago. He won't eat it by itself but I add it to his food or treats and he doesn't mind. I have reduced the amount that I give him to about a tsp. a day because, like I said, it seems to make him more hungry. He is currently still gaining weight and I couldn't be happier to have my cat back.

I checked the label on this product against NutriCal and Nutristat and unfortunately this has less protein and fewer minerals and vitamins than either one, and costs more. Also the potassium is higher, which can be problematic if feeding more than recommended dose. One plus is that it does contain taurine, but if you get the kitten version of the others, they do too. If you are not using as the only source of food or only for a short time, it won't be a problem. Taurine is found in meat, chicken, eggs,seafood, pet food and some baby foods. Feed/farm/livestock stores often have Nutrical or Nutristat for less, especially the dog version, which is basically the same, without taurine. (Dogs synthesize it, unlike cats.) Check it out....

Fantastic product. FIV+ cat, tought to feed, this has boosted energy, increased vitality/health, put some needed weight on. Vet said that "whatever you're feeding him...keep it up!" This is a life-saving product.

Our cat was starving because she has cancer and can't eat. We got her this product and she eats it! She will live to see her surgery which will only be because she didn't starve to death due to this wonderful product! She wants to eat but feels so sick, she's eating most of this tube. Please buy it for your cat if they are sick or won't eat.

We have a cat that is 18 years old and had part of his lower jaw removed 4 years ago because of cancer. Due to this, he has a hard time eating. Summertime is hard on him and he looses a lot of weight. This product has given him extra calories and made him hungrier so he has not lost as much weight this year. I don't know if he would have made it this year without this product!

Thanks to the previous reviewer i feel assured that i am doing the right course of treatment for my eldery cat who has just been dianosed with hyperthyroidism. I bought the product before the review because i trust the GNC label. After reading online about the product and the review i am glad i trusted my judgement.

I have an elderly cat with hyperthyroidism, who, despite being fed every 2 hrs, is very thin. She's also VERY finicky. I found this product at a local pet store, and though I doubted she would eat it, I purchased it as I'm desperate for her to gain some weight. To my surprise, she LOVES this gel! I use it as a reward when she gets her meds twice daily, and also add some into her food during the day. If there's a food she's not crazy about, rather than throw it away, I mix in some High Calorie Booster in, and she usually finishes it! She also had a bad problem with vomiting hairballs daily, as this finicky eater won't eat ANY hairball treatments. This product is apparently not intended to help with hairballs, but she hasn't expelled a hairball for two weeks now. What a pleasant "side effect"! This product is not cheap, is rather gooey, and I must say has not helped give her energy, but I'll continue to give it to my cat in the hope that she'll put on some weight and start feeling better.
