Health Notes

L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine
  • Reliable and relatively consistent scientific data showing a substantial health benefit.
  • Contradictory, insufficient, or preliminary studies suggesting a health benefit or minimal health benefit.
  • For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support.

Our proprietary "Star-Rating" system was developed to help you easily understand the amount of scientific support behind each supplement in relation to a specific health condition. While there is no way to predict whether a vitamin, mineral, or herb will successfully treat or prevent associated health conditions, our unique ratings tell you how well these supplements are understood by the medical community, and whether studies have found them to be effective for other people.

For over a decade, our team has combed through thousands of research articles published in reputable journals. To help you make educated decisions, and to better understand controversial or confusing supplements, our medical experts have digested the science into these three easy-to-follow ratings. We hope this provides you with a helpful resource to make informed decisions towards your health and well-being.

L-carnitine is made in the body from the amino acids lysine and methionine, and is needed to release energy from fat. It transports fatty acids into mitochondria, the powerhouses of cells. In infancy, and in situations of high energy needs, such as pregnancy and breast-feeding, the need for L-carnitine can exceed production by the body. Therefore, L-carnitine is considered a "conditionally essential" nutrient.1

Comments about GNC Total Lean™ Liquid L-Carnitine - Iced Tea with Lemon:

I've been taking this product for 2 full weeks now. Along with clean eating & working out 5 days per week,I've lost 4 lbs & 2 inches off my waist already. I take this product 2x a day. First in the morning with breakfast & again before my workouts. I haven't experienced a noticeable increase in energy. I mix the suggested serving with a cup of water & it taste just like its suppose to...tea with lemon. After finishing my first bottle I have since ordered 3 more as I plan to continue to use this product until I reach my desired results. What I appreciate most about this product is its price. It's affordable & seems to always be on sale online. I've tried several other products that gave me the results I wanted but left me with too much energy & feeling jittery. I love Cellucor's products but their prices are not appealing to me which is what pushed me to try to find alternatives. I'm beyond satisfied with this product.

I usually take a tablespoon of this about 30 minutes before I work out. I have noticed that this product gives me more energy when I workout and I think it has help me with some fat burn. The taste is not bad at all. It taste like sweet tea with a lot of lemon but really good.

I don't have anything negative to say at all about the product! I combined it with CLA as the GNC salesperson told me had worked for him for losing weight & gaining lean muscle. Before using these, my energy in the gym would be about 1.5 hours. Using them, I have energy enough to workout hard for 2.5-3.5 hours & still have more energy to go home to a 6 yr old boy & have fun playing with him! I would definitely recommend this product!
