Beginners usually don’t need a premium creatine to get great results—standard creatine monohydrate is a proven, straightforward place to start, and the biggest driver of progress is taking it consistently.
Where “premium” formulas can make sense is when they solve a practical issue that prevents consistency: you dislike mixing powders, you want a smaller serving size, you travel a lot, or you want a more convenient format that’s easier to take every day.
At GNC, we look at it like this: the best creatine is the one you’ll actually take daily—because a simple routine done consistently fuels progress far better than a complicated routine done occasionally.
Quick takeaway:
When you’re getting started, the most important “upgrade” is building a habit: a small, repeatable daily dose you can stick to on training days and rest days. That’s why standard creatine monohydrate is so often recommended—it’s uncomplicated and easy to keep in your routine.
Premium formulations don’t automatically mean “more results.” In most real-life routines, they’re most valuable when they help you stay consistent—because consistency is what keeps muscle creatine stores topped up over time.
If you’ve ever bought a supplement you meant to use but didn’t, you already understand the real problem premium can solve: not biology—behavior. If a different format makes it easier to take every day, that can translate into better results for you.
Practical checkpoint: If you’re missing days because of mixing, timing stress, or travel, a more convenient creatine option may be the smarter move.
“Premium” is worth considering when it removes friction—especially in the first month when you’re building your training rhythm.
A premium option may be a better fit if:
A standard option is usually best if:
GNC’s approach is disciplined and practical: start with what you’ll use every day, and only level up when it meaningfully improves your routine.
The simplest path is the one most people can follow: take creatine daily and treat it like brushing your teeth—small action, big payoff over time.
A beginner-friendly routine:
If you’re using a product with a labeled serving suggestion, follow that label. The most common mistake isn’t choosing the “wrong” creatine—it’s taking it for a week, skipping a week, then restarting.
If you want the routine to feel effortless, match the form to your lifestyle: powders for simplicity at home, tablets/chews for convenience when you’re busy.
If you’re new to creatine, you don’t need a chemistry degree to choose well. Focus on what keeps your routine clean, consistent, and easy.
1) Clear ingredient listing If it’s a simple creatine product, the label should feel simple. If it’s a blend, make sure you know what you’re getting and why it’s there.
2) Format you’ll actually use Powder, tablets, chews, or added into a pre-workout—choose the option you’ll take on your busiest day.
3) Quality standards you trust GNC’s long-standing commitment is to curate fuel you can count on—so you can focus on showing up, training, and stacking daily wins.
When you keep it practical, creatine becomes exactly what it should be: a reliable, low-drama part of your plan.

^In a randomized, double-blind clinical study of 57 healthy, young adult males, subjects who took AMP Creatine HCl 189 containing only 1.25 grams of the PEG-Creatine system significantly improved leg press 1-RM performance by 54.3 Ibs, while subjects receiving the 5 grams of creatine monohydrate significantly improved performance by 52.3 Ibs, and the placebo group showed no significant improvement at 5.7 Ibs. at the end of the study.
⬦In a clinical study of 17 healthy, young adults, muscle biopsy results revealed that GNC AMP Creatine HCl 189 resulted in 189% greater muscle creatine uptake relative to benchmark amounts of ordinary creatine monohydrate powder.

Great presentation, haven't yet see or feel the results, but will continue testing and see if there are noticeable changes
I love these! They are a very convenient way to get creatine. They are also very effective, I can tell based on my soreness the next day if so didn't take them as they typically reduce it. It also seems to help keep my gains better than protein and amino acids alone. My favorite part is that I am not consuming a bunch of sugars on top of them like other creatine supplements have.
Very good ??
I have noticed so much progress since I've started! On month 3 now.
Preparing my pre- and post-workout drinks started to feel like something out of an episode of Dexter's Laboratory, so I opted for Creatine HCL 189 tablets to simplify those processes.

The pills create less mess and don't have a sour taste like the powdered AMP Creatine HCL.

It produces a solid, steady pump but the results aren't as significant or immediate as that of its powdered counterpart.
PRODUCT HAS ME WITH GOOD RESULTS
It's my go to
Big pills I just blend mine end with my protein shake
Love it very much
Horse pills? Suppository? Are these large enough? Clown pills.
I have this product that helps with energy and riding bicycle but you need to eat something while taking this product.
Tried in the past and worked very well but now seems, less effective
Gave me headache
i gotta say, when i stay consistent with drinking water and lifting and eating enough usually i have a hard time putting on muscle but after a month of using this i seen results. It's not magic and doesn't work on its own. But it Works!
Like others have said, it does not digest (e.g., you may see complete pills in your toilet), even when taking "ample" water per the directions and whether taken with or without food. I'll spare review readers any photographic evidence, but imagine my surprise.

I raised the issue with GNC but was outside their BS 30 day window and they refused to remedy the issue. Cancelled my GNC account and will be one of those clapping when they shutter in the coming decade. Terrible product and customer service.
Don't dissolve at all!!!! Not worth it. My digestive system got bad, went to urgent care because of the pain in my intestines. Popped and realized that tablets there fully.
Very pleased with my purchase.
This tablet form is easy to swallow when your on the go in the mornings and don't have time to mix.
Easy to take
tried the tablets after the powder and I found that this method was easier to keep on a daily routine. I will use creatine daily and at age 65 it helps with my muscle development and all the other medical positives that come from daily creatine use.
As expected I will be purchasing again , easy for me to take
Great product. Definitely helps to trim down recovery time. Make sure to hydrate because minor cramping will occur if you don't.
I like this one. First time trying.
Super effective, halfway through my cycle and so far so good
Good stuff
I have been using this product for quite a while and have seen substantial gains and progress and even conserving muscle mass while in season sports.
At 54, it definitely helps my workouts
Gives me nice energy for working out.
I've been in fitness for over seven yrs now. Flexibility, endurance and strength training. I'm 54 yrs. Old with a conscious of what I eat however my size basically remain the same over the yrs. I'm fully aware of Creatine and it's use from my younger yrs in the military. So I took the plunge on HCI 189. It's been 3 months in and I see a mad difference in my physique. I have more definition that reflect my discipline in the gym. Ppl see a difference and that's enough feedback for me. Great product, will order again. Thanks GNC…
Pretty good no bloating or water retention easy to take in tablet form overall love it
