Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a fatty acid that functions like a vitamin, although it is not classified as a vitamin. As a coenzyme, ALA plays an important role in the metabolism of glucose that produces energy in cells. ALA also has antioxidant properties and thus is important for controlling free radicals. Because it is suluble in both water and fat, ALA is sometimes referred to as the "universal antioxidant."

Alpha Lipoic Acid 600
I used to take a high priced multi B derivative for my nerve damage from diabetes. I now take this and it seems to have the same results as the high priced derivative. Also the same as the gabapentin I took before that.

BEST ANSWER: The R form is a bit more effective and efficient than the regular form.
is R or S type?
A shopper on Mar 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This is *not* the "pure" R type - it is a mix of R and S, which is the case for all Lipoic Acid that does not expressly state R-Lipoic-Acid. While many of the studies of ALA do reference the R type only, it still hasn't been conclusively proven that R only is more effective,
a friend who lives abroad asked me to order a r alpha lipoic acid for him and he wants to maker sure is a r there a label that show R alpha Lipoic acid in your products
