California Transparency in Supply Chains Act Disclosure
At GNC, our mission is to motivate and support the desire to Live Well. Responsible sourcing is fundamental to that mission. We are committed to conducting business ethically and to doing our part to help eliminate human trafficking and forced labor in the supply chain. In accordance with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act, we provide the following disclosure regarding our policies and practices related to suppliers and manufacturers of supplements.
1. Supply Chain Verification
Approximately 95% of GNC’s supplement suppliers and manufacturers are based in the United States, where strong labor laws and regulatory oversight significantly reduce the risk of forced labor or human trafficking. GNC requires all international supplier and manufacturer agreements to incorporate a Manufacturer’s Code of Conduct explicitly prohibiting such practices. To reinforce expectations across our supplement supply chain, we plan to provide all suppliers and manufacturers with a copy of the Manufacturer’s Code of Conduct on an annual basis. We aspire to strengthen both domestic and global oversight by embedding ethical sourcing principles more deeply into supplier selection, contracting, and ongoing monitoring processes.
2. Auditing
GNC conducts audits of supplement suppliers and manufacturers to ensure compliance with product safety, Good Manufacturing Practices and quality standards. As part of our continuous improvement efforts, we intend to expand our audit framework to thoughtfully include labor rights and human trafficking considerations, with a focus on countries that may present higher risk.
3. Supplier Certification
All international suppliers and manufacturers of supplements are required to agree to the GNC Manufacturer’s Code of Conduct, which mandates compliance with labor laws and prohibits forced labor and trafficking. We plan to expand our certification approach to create more formal and consistent documentation of adherence to labor and human rights standards across our entire supplement supply chain.
4. Accountability Standards
GNC’s supplier and manufacturer agreements allow for corrective action, up to and including termination of business relationships, in response to violations of our labor standards. We expect our partners to uphold the same commitment to ethical conduct that we apply within our own operations, and we aim to develop stronger internal processes to reinforce this expectation throughout the supplement supply chain.
5. Training and Awareness
GNC provides general ethics and compliance training to relevant teams, including Quality and Sourcing personnel. We intend to build on this foundation by expanding training programs to include focused instruction on labor rights, international labor law compliance, ethical sourcing principles, and identifying red flags related to forced labor within the supplement industry.
Ongoing Commitment
GNC is committed to continuous improvement in supply chain transparency and ethical sourcing. We will continue to evaluate our practices, engage our supplement suppliers and manufacturers, and strengthen our oversight mechanisms to ensure that our supply chain reflects our values of integrity, accountability, and respect for human rights.
