About the Author
As a dietitian, researcher, and educator, Detrick Snyder is on a mission to provide evidence-based analysis to help you make informed decisions about nutrition and your health. With so many conflicting opinions on nutrition science out there, Detrick leverages his research experience and clinical expertise to cut through the hype and help you understand what’s relevant for you.
He received his Master of Public Health and completed his dietetic internship from the University of Michigan School of Public Health, and has been a trusted registered dietitian since 2019. He currently works as a nutrition coach, freelance writer, and a business consultant for health and wellness companies.
Detrick’s path to nutrition science started over two decades ago when he was a professional baker and pastry chef. Seeing that the foods he made — delicious as they may have been — were contributing to his customer’s poor health, he changed course and pursued a career that placed wellness at the center. His nutrition philosophy honors the cultural and comforting roles that food plays, while empowering individuals to change the narrative around food and achieve their goals.
During his career as a nutrition researcher, he has been an educator for audiences ranging from undergraduates to research physicians and everyone in between. In addition to his teaching roles, he has helped conduct clinical research in nutrition related to ketogenic metabolism, food sensitivities, and condition-specific nutrition strategies.
Now, he combines two decades of experience in the food industry and clinical and research settings to help businesses develop cutting-edge products and services that fuel your passions and nurture your health. In his private practice, he brings the same research-based approach to providing performance nutrition coaching and counseling for metabolic optimization.
In his free time, Detrick enjoys cycling and rock climbing in the mountains of Colorado. When he’s not nerding out about nutrition science or training for a summit ascent, you can find him gardening, playing music, or experimenting with new foods in the kitchen.
