The Watertok trend is seriously taking off on social media where people are flavoring their water with syrups and powdered flavorings in an attempt to make their water more appealing and stay more hydrated. Let’s get our experts take on it, Mary Milstead, MS, RD, LDN:
“This is one TikTok trend I can actually get behind. It’s recommend to drink between 2-3 liters of fluids every day, but the average American is only getting about half of that. So if Watertok is making you drink more water, I’m all for it. Just one word of caution with those flavoring packets – steer clear of empty calories and added sugars.”
If you’re looking for some alternative solutions to Watertok, you can try:
- A packet with added electrolytes for hydration
- Add fresh fruit to your water
- Try sparkling water
- Eat your water! Look for foods with high water content, such as watermelons
