As a dietitian who has worked at GNC for eight years, this was a first for me:
Adding protein powder to lemonade.
It’s the newest trend on social media with the hashtag #proteinlemonade rendering over 2 million views on TikTok. Influencers are mixing pre-packaged lemonade and blending it with ice and vanilla protein powder. So, I took to the kitchen and decided to create a more nutritious spin on this sweet and refreshing beverage. I made some healthier swaps by replacing the sugar-filled lemonade with fresh fruit and using a protein powder that has zero grams of added sugar. Talk about yummy without the guilt!
Ingredients
- 3-4 lemons (or approximately 4oz of lemon juice)
- 4 oz water
- 2-3 strawberries
- 1 cup ice
- 1 scoop GNC Total Lean® Zero Sugar protein powder, French Vanilla
Instructions
- Cut and squeeze the fresh lemons to get about 4 oz of lemon juice.
- Wash and cut 2-3 strawberries into quarters.
- Put lemon juice, cut strawberries, ice, water, and protein powder into a blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Optional: Garnish with fresh lemon and strawberries.
- Enjoy post workout or anytime of day for a protein boost!
