About the Author

A dietitian, freelance writer, and plant-based lifestyle expert, Lauren is on a mission to normalize plant-based eating and simplify what it means to create a healthy, active, and purposeful life.


She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Food Science & Human Nutrition from Colorado State University and her Master of Public Health degree from Michigan State University. She completed her dietetic internship at Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor and has been a Registered Dietitian since 2010.


Lauren has a background ranging from personalized nutrition to broader public and environmental health. As a new dietitian, she worked in the clinical setting providing medical nutrition therapy and then transitioned to outpatient eating disorder counseling.


After that, she worked at a public health and safety organization for several years, first as a project manager for dietary supplement testing and certification and then as a standards development liaison.


Since 2017, Lauren has been a freelance writer and content strategist for numerous health and wellness brands. She understands that nutrition can be an overwhelming topic and aims to bring current science to consumers in a clear, relatable, and actionable way. She believes that food was meant to nourish your body and bring you joy, and it doesn’t have to be complicated.


In her free time, Lauren enjoys working out and doing fitness competitions, playing guitar, painting, and going on adventures with her sons and dog.
