What’s up, guys? I’m Kenta Seki with Team GNC. I’m a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and health and nutrition coach. I’m so excited to be bringing you some of my pro tips. There are no excuses when it comes to your health and wellbeing. So I’m here to help guide you to a whole new level of living well. Today, we’re going to be talking about supplements, especially pre-workout and post-workout. What’s the difference between the two? Obviously, it’s in the name. You take one before you work out and one after you work out. But why? What are the difference in benefits and why is it important to take them correctly? Your pre-workout, you want to take before you work out, so that it can give you a boost of energy and increased circulation, so that you can get the best workout possible.

Next, you want to make sure you’re taking a post-workout, so that it can help replenish any of your minerals, your amino acids, and other nutrients that you depleted during your workout. Let’s get right into it. All right. So I just got back from my local GNC shop, and I chatted with their GNC coach. And here’s what they recommended for me. We’re going to start with the pre-workout. I love the Beyond Raw Lit Pre Workout Powder. They have some amazing flavors, including their Jolly Rancher inspired flavors. My personal favorites are the watermelon and green apple. What’s amazing about this product is it stimulates nitric oxide production, which can really help circulation. It also has 250 milligrams of caffeine per scoop. That’s the equivalent of about two and a half cups of coffee.

Now that’s a little bit much for me personally, so I just take half a scoop. It’s really important that you take the right amount of dosage for you and your needs. There’s actually a trend going around right now on social media called dry scooping, where you just scoop the powder directly into your mouth and swallow it from there without mixing it with water. Please do not do that. That is definitely pretty dangerous because your mouth can absorb the nutrients a little too quickly and rush too much caffeine into your system at once. You want to mix this with water and drink it about 30 to 45 minutes before you work out, so that it has time to really affect you and get into your system. Let’s go ahead and put that in my bag.

Next up, we have our post-workout. My personal favorite is the Beyond Raw Precision BCAA. BCAA stands for branched-chain amino acids. It’s a nutrient that we use a lot of during our workouts. So it’s really important that you drink it right after you work out to help replenish some of your storages. The branched-chain amino acids can really help your body function at its best. What you want to do is get two scoops of this, mix it with water, and drink it anywhere from 15 minutes up to an hour after you work out. Let’s go ahead and add that to my bag. Next up, we have protein. My favorite protein from GNC is our GNC AMP Wheybolic Protein.

Protein is so important, guys. It’s a whole building block of our entire body. And especially if we’re working out, we’re depleting a lot of our protein sources. So we want to make sure we’re feeding our body, so that it can build itself correctly. What you want to do with timing with your protein is it depends on the type of protein you’re eating and your goals. You can be using the protein as a meal replacement, as a snack. Or if you’re doing it pre and post-workout, you want to do it 30 minutes or more before you work out or 15 minutes to an hour after you work out. Next up, we have our vitamins.
