About the Author
A lifestyle nutrition storyteller, Brittany Johnson, PhD, MS, RDN, is on a mission to help people apply scientific evidence to fuel their best lives. She is passionate about translating science into every day practical guidance, especially related to sport performance.
She received her PhD in Health and Human Performance from Concordia University Chicago. Where her research focused on implementation of wellness programs for firefighters aimed at improving sleep, physical fitness, nutrition, and injury prevention. She developed the Tactical Athlete Nutrition Score (TANS), a validated tool to screen nutritional gaps in tactical athletes. She completed her Master and Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Loma Linda University and has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist since 2013.
Brittany currently serves as a Manager of Nutrition Content and Services at GNC Corporate Headquarters. In this role, she is responsible for managing projects and activities focused on delivering on-trend, expert-curated content, and health services to help consumers Live Well.
Prior to joining GNC, she spent most of her career as a college professor, training future dietitians and teaching general ed nutrition courses. She believes telling stories about nutrition science helps people relate better and apply dietary changes to improve their lives. As an RDN, Brittany also has experience as a nutritionist for sports teams and counseling for disease prevention. She is deeply committed to research and relaying expert nutrition and exercise tips to optimize health and performance.
In her free time, you’ll catch her at the gym, outside hiking or paddleboarding, and baking in the kitchen. She finds balance in her healthy lifestyle and certainly enjoys eating her famous chocolate chip cookies.
